Okay, so I played. I got the elvish sorceress 3 more lvl 2 kills. And ended my turn with one troll left:

Then I was about to close it but I decided to send the wraith up just to scout. There were no more units. rolleye

So I put Bruindane on auto pilot to the crossroad. 5 turns of only him moving later:

So yeah glad I just ended that one...

New scenario:

Heh, four troll kings in 4 corners. Looks like a doozy

Nice work, Lewwyn. thumbsup

I am glad you finished off that previous map - a turnset of nothing but moving Bruindane to the signpost would have been rather disappointing. lol

New scenario...lots and lots of trolls. rolleye At least we have a nice chunk of mountains we can defend. We should recall a bunch of dwarves to help defend our core area, and then we can use other types of units to go after the troll kings and to move around and claim villages. There are enough villages to provide some decent income, which we are likely to need for recruiting replacement units.

Story Spoiler:
If the drake was still alive, he would have brought back several loyal drakes and make a new fort in the mountain. However, I would recommend AGAINST recruiting drakes because drakes are terrible in mountains.

duh Duh for some reason I thought I wasn't up yet. Will get right on that. Sorry for the hold up.

Looking at the status table we have two unnamed allies in this battle. I hope they show up soon.

I want to test somthing out but I was thinking that we go charge one leader and fight a 3v1 battle from a corner.

Hmmmm.

One of our allies is supposed to be the loyal drake and his drake recruits. No idea if they will ever appear since the guy died a while back. huh

The other ally...no idea.

Trying to claim a corner would certainly make our defense easier. Being stuck in the middle and surrounded would not be good, even with mountains for defense. Maybe if we could hold a line in the mountains along the river, force the trolls to fight from the water? That would certainly give us a huge edge, but they will likely just go around us. Too much open space to defend.

Wherever we fight, we should try to make use of our commander Bruindane's leadership ability. Keep him right behind the front lines so as many units as possible benefit from the bonus. I meant to do more of this in the last scenario, but he was heavily injured and spent my entire turnset getting healed.

Good luck!

thx switching to JPEG lets me go back so Lewwyn could see again. Unless he lied about dropbox.

First turn thoughts

I chose to go after the north western troll leader because I saw that we had a chance to kill the guy on the second turn and take the keep 3 or 4 turn.

Although it doesn't have a river it have mountians some villages and a soon to be dead troll leader.

Second turn

I attack and . . . um I am just gona show you.

Well, I will do what I can. But we are pretty thoroughly screwed at this point. frown

Caught in the open, all 4 troll leaders still alive, no new units available...it seems unlikely we will survive.

Don't worry the blue boy should fall quickly. my gambit may have failed but we can still pull through.

Use the loyal start army to kill blue while delaying the other 3 with the recruits.

I save/loaded this a few times on nightmare and found out I need to get like 90% of the hits off the 2 units that could reach him. If you have enough steel dwarves on the mountain, you should be able to hold quite well.
