T5-6
Interesting map update
First, the western land is just asking for a couple of cities. Pigs, clam, flood plain can be used immediately; jungle gems, banana, and sugar nearby. Tasty
Second, the jungled land strip. I wonder if all civs have a land area of their own, and these areas are connected by landbridges like this strip. Certainly a possibility
Would be interesting to continue onto the strip and check this theory, but I think we shouldn't. We still don't have enough info about close vicinity of the capital, and don't know where we will plant the second city. So I'm going to stick to the plan and start moving the Warrior east (SE-SE onto the hill, then decide what next)
In other news, we discovered AH at the end of T6. GES and MNG also discovered a tech this turn, and power demo increase is consistent with AH, so I assume they both got AH as well. Note that either resource becomes visible the turn after the tech is discovered, or we have no horses in the scouted area

Too early for a dotmap? Yeah, but what the heck, I'll do one anyway.
We can cottage the daylights out of red dot, stealing sheep to help growth until calendar opens bananas + sugar. Yellow dot would be a great Moai production site.

New experiment - a map with no AIs, so no research bonuses. I got the Oracle on T34, with Pottery researched last. However, I didn't revolt to Slavery, I don't think we need it on the way to Oracle, and it saves a turn. Maybe I missed something. Also note that this was via Polytheism, going via Meditation shaves off another turn
With Pottery, I was unable to get Oracle before T35 - and I could only achieve T35 by skipping a Worker in the capital at size 3. It's clearly worse than getting Pottery last. Good call!
The new version of the start, with known land mapped, is attached. AIs are removed, and all VCs except Time disabled

T7 - Horses didn't appear. Not that I expected them to Researching Mining. Till didn't find anything interesting, just a bunch of coast/ocean tiles

Our GNP is 17 when researching a tech without pre-preqs. Rival worst is also 17; rival best is still 21. Conclusion: GES is researching a no-pre-req techs, most likely Mysticism for Obelisks and possibly Stonehenge. MNG is again researching a 1 pre-req tech, my guess is Pottery
Edit: After thinking about it, not sure about GES. He could be on Mining as well. I do expect him to get Mysticism early - no reason to take Egypt otherwise. But he needs to get hammers from somewhere, so he does need Mining. We'll see how the power rating changes in 4 turns, then we'll know for sure

Thanks for the updated save. I'm terribly slow at worldbuilding a map that mirrors what we've discovered so far. I also got Oracle on T34, though I only tried once. I did revolt to slavery after the 1st settler finished, and whipped the second setter for overflow into the Oracle. I honestly don't know if that's better or not.

Huh, I don't know either. Will run calculations, maybe they will clear things up instead of making them even more complicated
If the save comes tonight, and you're around, feel free to play. Ultra has finished the Worker, move him according to your plan, and start a Warrior. Till should move SE onto the coastal hill

I'll be happy to play the turn if it comes my way this evening.
Regarding GES research, I'd be pretty surprised if he's going Myst before Mining. AH will reveal the horses needed for his UU, and obelisks aren't much good without new cities to put them in. I guess he could try to run some priests? But I doubt he'd waste hammers and food on Obelisk+priests in his capital. Those should show up more in his expansions.

Played turns 8 and 9. Picked up the free roading action NW of the capital and started pasturing sheep. Scouted SE-SE with Till, revealing crabs:
No change in the demos between turns 8 and 9, so I'll only post one screenie:

Thanks Maestro!
A thing of note in the demos is the identical numbers in MFG and crop yield stats. If we adjust GNP to account for pre-reqs and MNGs culture bonus, it will be identical as well. So everyone is working a 3/0/1 tile atm, and everyone has a plains hill capital. I think so, at least
