What would be interesting is a summary of strategies to go with the dates, actually.

Yes, good idea. When will you be providing one? :hat: (I miss the :D smilie)
Reply

what would you want to put for the strategies?

first 2 techs? with dates?

Saladin-friend, Hatty-friend, or trying to do both?

date of first war (with Spain or with anyone or both?)

cottages or resources improved first?

how many workers produced in the first batch (not sure thats possible to see)

date the first civ was eliminated (and by who?)

date liberalism researched? (some other tech that is a good milestone?)

Since (to Sirian's chagrin) a major part of this exercise was tech trading, that might be a good place to start. List the techs people traded, when they traded them, and how many beakers they got in exchange. You would need to analyze any chaining, since one tech can lead to another which can lead to another.

On my desk in the morning, if you please wink

Sounds like you have a good handle on it, you go ahead and write it up! wink

Since the number of beakers in a tech is variable, I am not sure how you would do this in any case. Perhaps the easiest stat would be to assign some default number of beakers to each tech (perhaps what they cost at the 1 AD start).

Then just sum up the total number of beakers of techs researched and then traded vs techs recieved in trades. In other words, total number of beakers traded away, and total number of beakers aquired through trades.

I am not sure all the reports have enough detail to get accurate numbers though.

I believe you are missing Zeviz in your list. Also, you posted Veovim as "Vervim". As for listing strategies, that might be hard to extract from some people (such as my report, unless I tell you directly). I also didn't keep record of my tech trades, as some others may have not done.

Heh-heh...I'm saving my limited bandwidth for an opening moves comparison of Epic VII.

Your point is well taken. If we just use the flat beaker value and don't take into account any multipliers (or partial research) in play, it will skew the results.

I quite like the summary as is. Thanks for compiling it. I don't feel quite so inept now (finishing right in the middle of the space pack.) I'm glad that finishing a few (or even 20) turns earlier wouldn't have affected my rank a bit.

Ok correct me if I'm wrong, spent a bit of time skimming reports for this, I wanted to showcase the sheer strategic diversity.

Zeviz ... Space 1884 - Alphabet first, cottage focus and Academies, Liberalism -> Astronomy (1320), peaceful game with a DP with Saladin
Uberfish ... Space 1918 - Mining first, early specialist focus using 3 GS to lightbulb Philo, Paper and Education to slingshot Liberalism -> Military Tradition (1390) and quick cavalry conquest of Egypt
regoarrarr ... Space 1933 - Maths first, late Mace war with Saladin for 4 cities
Blake ... Space 1935 - Mining first, early Caste system, no expansion, DP with Saladin, MM and Liz
T-Hawk ... Space 1936 - Mining first, tech catchup by trading Music, chose Buddhism and had to fight off Saladin camel invasion. Saladin eliminated Caesar. Couldn't win diplomatically and had to go to space.
Jonathan ... Space 1959 - Mining first. Failed an early rush on Qin but no ill consequences. Liberalism -> Economics (1510). Took a few cities from all 3 neighbours and eliminated Qin on the way to space.
Kodii ... Space 1961 - Monotheism first. Went down the religious tree for tech trading to catch up and got Spiral Minaret. Failed to win by diplo and went to space.
Veovim ... Space 1965 - Alphabet first. Caught up by trading Philosophy around in 1280. Late mace/conquistador war against Saladin beating Grenadiers, but had to stop when facing rifles. Caesar eliminated by a spontaneous AI dogpile.
Atlas ... Space 1973 - Alphabet first. Went for a GP for theology to catch up some. Missed liberalism by 2 turns (1470). Conquered Egypt with conquistadors and riflemen.
Brackard ... Space 1990 - Mining first. Allied with Judaism early and managed a peaceful game with low/military, constant flow tech trading throughout the game.
Griselda ... Space loss by 2 turns - CoL first. Got 7 techs from brokering paper (!) then caught up with Printing Press. Mostly peaceful game. Couldn't get the UN vote resulting in some modern warfare with Hatty who launched in 1992.
LKendter ... Space loss by 6 turns - Peaceful game, got many techs from paper, lost a close space race to the Space Elevator.

Kylearan ... Dom 1918 - Alphabet and Literature first, managed to build Great Library in 1000. Early cottage focus until great library online. Liberalism -> Steel (1430). Beat Saladin with cannons, Hatty with artillery, Qin with tanks/bombers to win.
Compromise ... Dom 1965 - Mining first, pure cottage focus, beelined to Currency early for economic recovery. Conquered Hatty in two waves of maces then conquistadors. Then Qin with infantry/artillery and Saladin with tanks/artillery for the win.
Iustus ... Dom 2030 - Went Judaism early and got massively invaded by Hatty in 760 with nothing but archers to defend and no tech trading leverage, but somehow managed to win anyway...

Soooooo ... Culture 1933 - Mining first then CoL/theology for trades. Peaceful game, traditional cottage+GA culture win turning off research at Infantry.
Darrell ... Culture 1936 - Mining first. Another peaceful game, caught up tech by beelining to and trading Astronomy for 11 (!) other techs in 1505. Flipped between representation and US to keep research going all the way to tanks.
Rowain ... Culture 1991 - Mining/BW first, allied with Judaism early inciting an invasion from Hatty in 425 but fought it off with whipped Bronze units at the cost of slowed development. Was never able to catch up in tech, so went for culture stopping research at infantry.

Sullla ... UN 1840 - Mining first, tech caught up with lightbulbed Philosophy. Mace war on Egypt, interrupted by Qin backstab. Liberalism -> Nationalism (1340). Finished both enemies with cavalry and won by backdoor domination.
Ruff_Hi ... UN 1880 - CoL first. Cottage focus with Toledo as dedicated GP farm. Caught up with paper/education and liberalism -> Printing press (1460) then used GS to lightbulb down the UN path.
blid ... UN 1924- Mining first then alphabet getting several good techs from trade. Invaded by Saladin in 880, saved by trading lightbulbed Philo for feudalism and a war ally. Liberalism -> Astronomy (1420) to catch up fully. Was going for space, but took advantage of a late game Hatty-Qin war to win diplomatically.
Ronald ... UN 1928 - Alphabet first, again got several good techs in trade. Fought both Qin and Saladin at the same time with infantry due to their defensive pact, then secured Elizabeth and MM votes to win.
ZuperT ... UN 1936 - Mining first. Sneak attacked by Saladin in 1625 with camels after refusing his religious conversion demands, but fought it off and took a couple of cities. Aimed for space race, but was gifted a diplomatic victory by the main AI rival, Hatty, building the UN smile

Phew.

really interesting, actually.
