Iustus's Report - Epic 4 - Rome vs Barbs

Wow... I just registered on these boards to say great job.... what an epic game. I might give this challenge a whirl... but I think I'll stop if I hold of the barbs.

One quick point after reading your analysis.... I don't think you need an airport in the destination city to airlift to it. I might be wrong here, but I think you can airlift to any city as long as you have the airport in the departure city, obviously.

If you do not have an airport in the destination city, then you can only airlift in one unit total, per turn.

If you have an airport at the destination city, then you can airlift in an unlimited number of units, only one from each source city of course (which also must have an airport, of course).

So, in this case:

Quote:I have 80 cities, all with airports and extra units ready to airlift.

I have a new city, I just aquired.

If there is an airport in the destination city, then I can airlift 80 units to that city in the first turn.

If there is no airport, then I can only airlift one unit to that city in the first turn. And only one more the next turn, and so on.

That is why the airport was so critical to not losing my city to an attack of 12+ units right after I finished my turn.

Ah... got you, I must have misread your analysis. Now that is something I didn't realise. I rarely play into the end game as I'm more fun of the ancient eras. Again, good job, I learnt a few things from reading through your chapters on the game.
