[Spoiler] Playing with Magic, Amurites only!

You know looking at it again from that spot you only need the second border pop. The tile skew is making it hard to tell for sure (alt-f and ctrl-t are your friend), but I believe the tile 2N of the Fish (which is where the second border pop reaches) reaches the tile SW of the mana node. If that's the case you don't even need the holy city there, although that would remain the slick play.

I don't remember the numbers to figure out when the third pop would be, but I can check later.

Dain reads a report given to him by his most trusted (actually, his only) scout.

Quote:Greetings, Dain the Caswallawn, Almighty Archmage, Saviour of our Kind, Bringer of Snowstorms,

I bring to you reports of the south coast, viewed by me, Eaglebeak, mighty scout!

I have found traces of powerful mutton, which would give us plenty of health! My way however was blocked by many powerful mountains, but being daring and courageous i went pass them without a problem!

Now, i have set sights on another legendary being! It has a tail that is aimed directly at me, but i have no doubts that ...

*report finishes here*

P.S: This report will look pretty silly if my scout survives though!"

I wouldn't worry about that too much frown.

Shhhh i'm actually going for CoL for courthouses and Calendar for plantations, the side-effect of the broken civic choice wasn't actually in my mind =)

Dain receives a report from his mapmaker, but since they didn't know how to draw maps yet it was slightly not map-like.

Quote:To Dain the Caswallawn,

We, of the mapmakers guild, has compiled together the best sites to build cities! However, there is one spot that we were unsure off, and it is up to you.

Dain mutters something like " i need proper parchment and brush, i can hardly understand these maps..."

With that said, is there any other dotmapping equipment? I'm using paint, and i'm embarassed to show these off ><

Anyway, my first city will probably be blue dot. 3 Cotton + sheep is quite a good commerce maker. Easily defensible too due to all the peaks (but lack of lairs might make defensible not a key factor anymore...)

Green Dot might be better due to two corn, to bring out more settlers.

Red Dot is set in stone, to grab that Dragon Bone Island.

Pink is far away, but grabs a fish, clam and overlooked silk.

White or Grey? White has horrible overlap, Grey has horrible ocean. Probably filler cities anyway.

Orange dot isn't set in stone, i need to send out a warrior to explore that area.

Unless there is a land resource in the fog I would go with white. overlap is not that bad, and its unlikely a city will work all its tiles anyway as amurites (if you were elves it may be different)

I've used paint too. It helps a *lot* if you zoom out in such a way that the squares are actually square. Then, I find, they actually look pretty clean, although you still have the possible problem of overlapping city outlines.

Grey could be ... decent with Heron Throne, but probably couldn't build it before someone else goes for it, although, without Lannun in the game...
fakedit: jkaen has the right idea, actually, I think.

Orange looks yellow to me, and yeah, needs more exploration.
