I'd have rather them banned stealth champs in games with players below level 10, the same way the ban flash. Just so you know, Twitch and Shaco were both at the top of the top tier for a long time. Stealth is extremely op. Either you gain a massive advantage because the enemy team has to spend tons of early game cash on pink wards and oracles.....or they don't, and play passively, and you zone/out farm them. Or you just gank them and get fed.
First Shaco, then Twitch, and now Eve, have had all their other skills and base stats neutered because of this. Good riddance, I say. Stealth, as currently implemented, with the game's current counters, is stupid.

I kinda like ELO hell actually. It makes me go that extra mile to improve my play. In RB games I can just play safe, someone else will usually carry our team. But if I want to have a chance to win in ELO hell, I've gotta get kills, get fed and lead my team. Well, unless I get one of those crazy smurfs on my side, but so far they've all been on the opposing side

It's just a stupid concoction by bad players to try to make excuses for why their ELO is bad.

I also don't believe that ELO hell exists. I actually think the ranking system does a pretty good job of establishing general skill level, with the caveat that of course some people will do much better/worse in an organized team environment than others compared to solo queue. Just look at the YouTube games, where the most highly rated player (Plasma Puffball = 1500 ELO) has thoroughly stomped all over those of us with lower ratings. It's not a coincidence. After roughly 50-100 games, you should be in more or less the correct place.
"ELO hell" is yet another way that the League of Legends community shifts the blame for losing onto other players, rather than accept responsibility for defeats. It's always the other guy's fault...

When you start playing ranked, you start at the same ELO as everyone else (1200 I think in LoL?). But that doesn't mean that everyone are equal in skill even when they are in ELO. Good players will have to play with people worse than them (in average), but they should eventually get through the ELO hell and to ranks that fit their skill level. But LoL is a team game, you can't win every game by yourself. It's gonna depend alot on luck of the draw whether you'll get through ELO hell quick or slowly. But eventually you'll get there. The better player you are, obviously the better chances you have to completely dominate your games and so move through ranks quicker.

Though I agree with this last part

There's also plenty of "I know the correct play, why don't you!" mind screws while you screw up the details of laning and such. You know. I have 50 CS as Ashe at 20 minutes and complain why my jungler isn't checking and getting Dragon and such things.
But I have had a few really sour jerks in my games. I mean really, how the heck did you play LoL this much and get to this level without realizing certain basic principles like RUN AWAY WHEN LOWER THAN 100 HP?

Search let me down, so: what key binding recommendations do people have for low elo?
After missing a bunch of Morg shields last night, I finally remembered that self cast and smart cast are options. So I'm trying to figure out if I want to juggle the default keyboard a bit, or possibly switch bindings for particular champs.

Keep default.
Play 1000 games.
Go.

I use smart cast for everything, and it's awesome. But I don't recommend it for new characters, as you won't easily be able to see the range of your spells.
