Did some sim work, despite my avowed dislike of it.
With red dot settled first, we have marble settled and hooked up one turn after Lit drops. The next turn, Aquilonia rolls into the GL with twenty hammers of whip overflow and both a Library and a Monastery, which drops Mathematics a turn. Three chops next turn, which also reveals grass hill mines. Then it's three turns, and it's done. Which is nice, methinks, and will beat anything short of a Yuri beeline.

Wow, that sounds great! So Marble will actually be city #5? Will you also claim gold with that city?

Send him this, with my compliments. I refined some guesses, and counted beakers a little better. The production gap could be anything... did he miss a wonder?

Yeah, the gap is odd. I wouldn't peg him for a wonder attempt, but who knows. I sent it along, adding a blunt fishing line alongside it.
Quote:[COLOR="Yellow"]MNG,
I think we should have TRs once sailing drops, although I haven't quite defogged the coast around that little barb-city arm. However, we do have the long "spoke" route defogged. I'll have to see if I need sailing too.
Attached is the preliminary C&D effort for Mr. Nice Guy, compliments my excellent dedlurker Ceiliazul. Naturally it gets increasingly fuzzy the later it goes, but ah well. I have a development question for you, and if you chose to answer "no comment" that's fine. What's the next wonder Yuri is gunning for? Please keep it confidential, but over here I'm planning to settle marble soon and knock out the Great Library. Again, if you'd rather not speculate, that's fine. I'm actually surprised more wonders haven't been falling thus far.
Regards,

As far as actually turns go, check it out...
Yeah, no see food.
Ah well, at least it helps the decision with the marble site.
A slightly risky decision is made to keep camping despite the barbarian hordes threatening.
Eh, that nice new chariot should take care of a warrior without too much hassle.
Explorers reveal that MNG and GES have met:
And GES is in a really strong land position.
Need to make another settler after my settler at Nemedia, probably to route down towards the western corn site. Should be a good well-rounded site with balanced production, food, and commerce potential.

What does your east side dot map look like?
Y'know, if that chariot can move 1E next urn, he'll see the barb village... VERY likely finding warrior gaurds. My understanding is barbs tech follows the civs in the game, no one has researched archery last I checked. Could be extra cash for the liturature run.

Yep, actually my sim had the barb town providing just enough to allow going full bore for Lit once the Library dropped in Aquilonia. Baring any odd combat rolls the chariot will be investigating next turn. My old western dotmap is probably still valid.
Upon further reflection, the corn + fish + grassland that can be farmed makes me wonder if the ironically pink site would make a nicely serviceable GP farm location. If so, the national epic might be a good idea there after the basic granary/lighthouse/library. There are certainly enough forests to make it a nice fast build.
The more I look at it, the more the eastern dots annoy me. The jungle tile 1E of the marble grabs gold and marble at the same time, which is awesome...but look at the food situation.
One floodplain. One river grass tile. I'm just not sure that's enough of a food surplus to be viable.
