Nothing cool yet, C&D tells me someone's working on a tech with a pre-req, everyone else is working with no pre-reqs.

NH is Mining/Wheel. Kuro is Ag/Wheel. Jkaen is Hunt/Myst. There is nothing on the 2nd tier that fits the resource distribution. Only possibilities are NH going for BW to chop out a 2nd worker (actually not that good an idea), Kuro going pottery for super-early commerce (not a good idea, you want to focus on food/expansion first), and Jkaen going for super-early religion (a terrible idea).

Either of those three is good for us, at least. smile

Anyway, clams and more coast indeed isn't that exciting. I can't really see it in the screenshot, but is the tile NW-N of the Warrior a land tile? We could move the Warrior north next turn to reveal some more of the coastline and see if it makes for an attractive settling location for the second city, and move NW after that. But going in a counterclockwise circle may be a better idea if there's more land to our west.

Wait no I'm dumb as shit Kuro is creative so he gets 2 free culture so nope, everyone's working on a zero pre-req tech (either Ag or Fishing). Ignore my gloating post above.

It looks like we have the save, I'll get it in an hour or two.

I can play now.

SM you're right, that is a land tile. Moving the warrior 8 will give vision north of the clams, but I suspect we have time to inspect it later. I'd really like to move the warrior 7 to maximise scoutng. The question is, will we have time to fit a warrior into the build queue (maybe not, economy takes priority). This is normal speed, so there's more movement space available, I guess I'll take SM's suggestion and move the warrior north...

A good city site nonetheless. Let's move him 7 to check for oceanfood and then 1 to move inland and scout our west.

Interesting.. I can make cases for planting a city on the Warrior's current tile, as well as the tiles to his east and northeast. What do you guys think?

It probably will depend on what is hiding underneath the remaining tiles, but I'm not sure if we want it to make our second city. One that is positioned next to that river would immediately connect to our capital for trade route income, and pick up the riverside commerce as well. It's probably also a little more hammer rich and wouldn't require us to invest into yet another early workboat early on.

We will need a fairly high number of Workboats either way. It makes sense to me to mine that forested hill N-NW of our capital fairly early on so that we can work two riverside mines. For now that will be the biggest source hammers.

In any case, agreed on moving the Warrior NW-SW next. smile

Played, there's a coast fish 4-7 of the wet rice. Kuro's border just popped. Nothing else of interest.

GOLD!

There's a gold tile 47 of corn tile! Let's move the 2nd city 44.

So if the GLH is banned and we weren't planning on getting it anyway, I'm glad we went with Carthage.
On the other hand, being industrious for the Oracle-Colossus would have been even nicer.

I take it we'll probably settle the gold next?
