Turn 160 arrived after a day or so delay.
Nyktorion walked a very large stack of archers, priests, tigers and mages into my territory. They're currently standing on a desert hill on the border. 3 Mage upgrades and 3 Blining Lights later, virtually the whole stack is immobilized. 2 Rings of Fire and I started killing.....4 archers, 1 Gilden Silveric and my assasins took care of two mages. on the naval front, the RNG wasn't kind to Nyktorion on his turn. He lost 1 healthy privateer attacking my damaged privateer. He then lost 5 redlined privateers trying to finish off my Cultist and Privateer. He did manage to kill my caravel. I'll count that as a win. I hunted down and killed a slightly damaged Privateer (after a Tsunami). He's got one healthy Privateer in range to hit my 5.8/8 C3 privateer and can probably kill it on his turn, but doing so will leave it exposed to the Cultist that is stacked with my Privateer. So far I've taken out 9 Privateers and a caravel at the cost of 1 Frigate and one caravel. He no longer has any naval presence in the North Sea. I'm ok with how the naval war is going at the moment. I killed off 3 redlined defenders in Kandahar (and captured an Elf warrior thanks to the Command promotion). The Warrior isn't anything more than a novelty toy (keeps his Elven promotion and gained Nomadic on capture) as it has 0 xp. In three turns all of the Ents disapear and I'll be able to get a proper look at Nyktorion's power graph (it's currently around 4 million thanks to ~80 Ents at 40k each). Mardoc is in a Golden Age and has teched Smelting (presumably on his way to Iron Working). He also finished production of The Black Wind, the Lanun's heroic Privateer. Not sure if he's planning some false flag operations or simply wants a strong flagship for his fleet. Heisenberg built the AV shrine last turn, and the AC is now back up to 19. Other stuff may have happened, but reading the log is a pain at the moment with the huge number of combat reports due to the war with Nyktorion. Overall, I'm happy with the way the turn went and the prospects for the next few turns of Elf killing.
161: Nyktorion showed up in the south with a caravel and a pair of "barbarian" privateers. He lost one privateer + one retreated (redlined) but he managed to kill off my frigate in the area. Not a big deal. None of those ships have any cargo capacity so the most he can do is pillage my clams and blocade one city for a couple of turns.
In the North, he pulled the three units not Blinded back into his own territory. He's beefing up his stack with as many ents as he can, so I'm mostly just killing off ents (except for my assasins who bagged a pair of Adepts and a Mage. He's got 5 mages left in his stack with another 3 in F Destination. I'll kill the 5 that remain in my lands next turn). He pulled his units out of Kandahar and a bit of scouting showed that the only troops he had in the area were 4 ents on coast tiles + the two redlined units from Kandahar. So I took the city and kept it (after some suitable Tsunami action to ensure his ents don't post a threat). It's now been renamed to "Golden Cesspit". I used a Floating Eye cast by an adept with spell extension to scout from Kandahar. His backlines (including his coastal Holy city) are garrisoned by a couple of warriors/archers + ents. Those ents disapear in a couple of turns so I'll be able to pressure his backlines hard with a combination of Stygians/Cultists/Commando Eidolons. Oh, and my Novelty Toy apparently teleported back to my boarders IBT (it was standing on a water tile at the end of last turn) and got stomped on by an ent. WarriorKnight just completed a huge upgrade (likely archers/warriors-->Longbows + some UU--> Priest upgrades). I have a suspicision that either Nyktorion or Heisenberg are in for a nasty suprise in a turn or two. If WK is planning against Heisenberg he'll go through Pyre Zombies like a hot knife through butter. (The Elohim UU is an Assasin replacement that starts with Life 1 and can upgrade to a Priest, enabling Life 2 (destroy undead). ) There is a third option of course. He might be planning to NAP stab me, but that seems unlikely as he was the one who approached me for a "secret" NAP extension. If he'd wanted to attack me in this timefram he could have simply refused to extend our NAP. I'm thinking he's most likely going for a Sheam takedown, though he may have an eye on some of the Eastern Elf cities.
Turn 162: Well, apparently Blinding light doesn't work quite like I thought it did. I had thought Nyktorion's stack would be held until the start of my turn, but it seems that he was able to act.
He suicided most of his stack against my Eidolon guarded stack, he managed to get them down to around 6/15 strength and killed off an archer and one of my assasins. On my turn, I killed all the remaining Elf forces in my territory (several ents, some tigers, a Nightwatch and a Priest of Leaves....who was carrying the Axe) and have now recovered Orthus's Axe. I also killed off a redlined Ent that was standing on one of my mines (free new forest. ) using an adept that has been sitting at 9/10xp for the last 10/15 turns. 83% odds lets me upgrade him to be my 4th mage next turn (he'll take Shadow 1 and 2). I'll also be getting my first dispel magic mage next turn as one of my existing mages killed off a tiger to bring him to 17/17 exp. I still need a body II mage, but that should be doable in a turn or two and in the meantime my Stygians and Eidolons are doing the bulk of my fighting and they have March as a free promo. In the South, he pulled his caravel and redlined privateer back away from my territory. Floating eye scouting shows that Mardoc has a caravel nearby.....I wonder if he'll take the opportunity for some free xp from the "barbarian" Privateer. In the North East, not much happened this turn. I killed off a couple of redlined Ents for the exp, and let my other forces heal for a turn. Floating eye scouting shows another couple of "barbarian" privateers coming my way to be sunk in a turn or two. Nyktorion's ents disapear in 2 turns, after which I'll start taking cities. I swapped into Empy this turn and drafted 3 Radiant Guards. I haven't upgraded them to Rathas yet as all my gold had been spent upgrading a few extra Cultists/Stygians. Over the next few turns I'll get Empy spread to all of my cities and get a pile of RGs drafted and ugraded to Rathas. I'm still on target for doing some mass Mage upgrades starting turn 168. I should have ~20-30 ready to go by the time my NAP with Mardoc runs out on turn 170. Mardoc is currently getting Ice mana from Heisenberg, so I can expect to see Blizard casting Hemah. I double he'll have much in the way of conventional mages, any adepts that he's built have come with 0 xp and take forever to level up. He's got Fanaticism so I can expect to see Stygians (probably with Iron weapons). WarriorKnight has joined the GA club and is merrily beefing up his military. Nyktorion has inexplicably researched Feudalism which gets him the ablitity to build 4 Royal Guards. A waste of beakers IMO. He'd have been better off to have spent those beakers on Bowyers, but I don't think it will make much difference now that his world spell is gone and most of his mages and experienced priests are dead.
*grumble grumble*
Heisenberg is still sitting on the save....again. Doesn't he know that there is a war on and Nyktorion and I want to get on with it. *grumble*
No, but taking screenshots is a pain in the arse. I've never managed to get the ingame screenshot ability to work so I have to hit print screen and then alt-tab over to paint, paste the pic, save it, alt-tab back to the game ect ect ect. The whole process is painfully slow on my arthritic computer and occasionally leads to Civ crashing or hanging up. I really don't want that to happen during a war turn where I'm engaging in a lot of combats.
I'll see about getting a few pics once the turn gets around to me again.
Ouch... So it only saves the shot as a Copy-Paste type and not in the screenshots folder? That's harsh.
The in-game screenshotting doesn't work properly for me either. It saves the screenshot but the interface is never present. Doesn't work for most shots since you generally want to show the interface which has most of the information.
