Pindicator's Epic 6 Report

It was my first completed Always War game, and it was a blast! dance

Result: Diplomatic Victory in 1844AD
(I went for a Diplo win just for the inherent irony.)

I can see great parallels and differences between your game and my own. Besides founding our second city in the same location, we both experienced naval attacks. It was interesting to see that you received your attacks back in your mainland. I never received an attack to my mainland in my entire game. Instead, since I took Delhi so early in the game, I had extreme pressure, from both land and sea. Later, when I captured parts of Japan and Arabia, the attacks from the sea ceased. I'm not quite sure why.

I didn't even realize Sirian had enabled Diplomatic Victory eek

I think I could have actually won that way, instead of the D.O.A. space race attempt. Well played, and another thrashing of the AI. At this point we have Domination, Time, and Diplomatic (!) victories in the first three games. I am sure we'll see a Conquest, but can we get a Space Race and Cultural as well???

P.S. I have another theory on the Galleys Isabella parked outside Munich. It is possible she was too stupid to go around your own Galley, and didn't want to attack you when you had the coastal defense bonus wink

Don't think that's it, since I saw similar behavior in my game without having any ships of my own. smile

I think it's neither pindicator's nor your theory. I think the AIs simply love to blockade coastal cities, making the water tiles unworkable. I've seen this behavior in lots of games, where I had no ships, and where the AIs never make landing attempts. Normally, they park their galleys at several coastal cities, more or less evenly distributed. But in this game there were only very few human coastal cities that were not too far away from the AI (the southern sea access being blocked by ice), so they sent all their galleys to that single city.

I thought about the same, but my tech pace was to slow.

That's my experience as well; I had no ships until I spotted the 2 islands. My theory is that the AI simply saw the galleys as troop transport to the city of Delhi and without purpose after that. It is weird.

I'm not sure if I have a screenshot somewhere, but I remember a stack of 12 galleys (two from each civilization minus India) sitting beside Delhi for nearly half of my game. Not until I pumped out an ironclad to kill them all (except the escaping Russian galleys) did they leave. What was the AI thinking?
