Here is the first draft of a reply to Sareln:
Quote:The PalantÃr is silent for many days before glowing suddenly one eve to signal a new message;
"Your words seem to be those of Cassandra. Mere moments after remarking on my scouts luck at survival, Mork stepped West and was promptly eaten by a Spider. These Spider-men have become the arch enemies of my Green Goblins, defeating them time and again. My exploration is now neutered.
I have been silent these past 24 hours in mourning for the loss of this great goblin. He will be missed.
I am actually quite jealous of your 3 grasslands, My own Capital only has one by the Entwash River. But it is relieving to hear that all nations will suffer the great grass shortage equally. It should significantly harm those who would prefer Aristocracy Economies... But you will run a cottage economy won't you? So I guess you won't be too bothered by it.
To your direct south, after 6 leagues, is the start of the Misty Mountains and then a small lake we have named Gladden lake. Venturing around this lake and it's fields is another 6 or so leagues followed by another 6 to reach the Capital. 18 to 20 leagues in all. It's quite the distance. If everyone is this far away from everyone and barbarians start to swarm it could be awhile till true world wide diplomatic affairs can advance.
I agree to also share my contacts with you, however now that we are both sans-scouts this agreement may not amount to much for some time. I will be sending more Green Goblins West, My south is ice, my east is sea and my north found yourself at the end of a large land bridge between sea and lake. The West must also hold civilization.
For now i shall be focusing on growth, good luck in your own expansion. This conversation has been cordial and I look forward to seeing if we can work together in the future after we have weighed up our rivals.
PS Thank you for complimenting the introduction.
PPS Have you seen any short hairy footed creatures wandering around? One of them has run off with something important to me..."
I also share capital land details to continue the reciprocation game. I also note that i know he will have a much more powerful economy compared to other nations that are now much more gimped in going aristocracy. He now knows that i know he will have a better economy. He also know's that i want him to know that i know he knows.
Gotta love english grammar when describing head games.
I also bring to light how the messages have been merely cordial. Lets see if he tries to speak out against that description or ignores it.
Aim for Sareln Diplo:- Find out his intentions for me if he has any
- use him for information
- secure a land agreement that is in my favour (I'm thinking the misty mountains as a minimum)
- Don't offer a NAP but try to gain favourable terms that make it seem like we are doing him a favour if he asks and if we have other viable and believable targets.
I want the land and would be willing to make a play at forcing the issue but I don't want to threaten without the ability to force so another Wolf Rider would be perfect to have when land negotiations start.
While Thessa is expansive as well as us, we have warrens. A reminder of this should be sufficient to indicate we could steal most of the land we desire anyway. Then our double production of units could defend that land while sending shamans out to burn down every forest they see. We need to see how much land we have to the west.

What are you going to tech after mining? Animal Husbandry for the sheep?
Are you going for a Aristocracy economy with all the plains? Any chance of going cottages? A spiritual economy (with RoK and AV Temples and spread) will help, but we need something better then that!
How about warren boosted savant bulbing?? That would certainly work :neenernee!

Forest fires take forever to spread, I wouldn't rely on them to do anything.
What's the casualty list look like?

I'm thinking actually i just beeline Mysticism and Education. I want to get the economy up after all.
Oh yes a strange note... I am now Number #1 in GNP... as the Orcs
Teching to Mysticism I am pondering getting a third Settler out. Or perhaps side step to masonry and build a Warren while waiting for Mysticism.
Once I can build a pagan temple i can start growing a Great Propet to bulb.
With only 1 tile that could be pasteurised I don't feel Animal Husbandry has a big enough pay off compared to a warren or religion rush.

I'm tempted to go for a mish mash, Have a few cities specialised to commerce with towns but have Aristocracy once we get to Sanitation? Aristocracy is good because it is easy to make cities pay for themselves. But in this dry land it's probably best to just do what we can.
IS Warren boosted Savant Bulbing actually any better then just building tech?

Oh they won't do anything specific. But they will be an annoyance. And i'm willing to send 4 fire shamans out to just blaze every single forest they can step onto not wait for it to spread naturally.
You mean casualty list as in who have we lost? um lets see;
Goblins: Bork & Dork
Super Goblin: Mork
That's all i've lost so far, Current Military is;
Goblins: Hobgoblin
Warriors: Nameless & Brainless
Super Warrior: Gork
Wolf Rider: Worg

Turn 24: Waiting for Settling
With our new neighbour found the days were looking bright. We had plans to settle and explore. When the evil cloud of miss-fortune darkened our plans.
#2 City in the World
We have the #2 city in the world. Due to jealously we need to update our C&D, the GMork will be sent out to find with nation has a better Capital then us. We'll burn it to the ground later.
The last Days of Mork the Magnificant
This is the last known position of Mork. Poor Mork. We went West just like those Elves told us to and he stumbled onto a Spider. I held out hope that he would succeed.
Mork: 3 Str, +50% vs Animals, +20% Str, +25% Defence bonus
Spider: 5 Str, 1 first strike
We could have won... we should have won! Damn Spidermen. They will rue the day they decided to stand in our way!
Start of Settler Production
We Start the Settler now. With added in movement to Fangorn Forest Settling site we should get mining just in time to start mining those gems as it settles.
Unit Cost
Due to the newest Goblin being built, Named HobGoblin, we are now over the limit of "free" units supported by the nation. We have to lower the tech rate, luckily not by so much.
Demographs
That top land area is a bit strange, no one is cultural, someone must have gotten an event to get the extra border pop early.
