I'm afraid to say that I have decided to withdraw from this game. The truth of the matter is that the PBEM format is too slow for my liking, and my interest in the game has been steadily declining. I thought the slow pace would suit me, but as it turns out I am too impatient to see the game slowly unfold. My impatience has now been replaced with frustration. The last couple of weeks loading up the game has been a chore, and something I don't look forward to. At that point it's time to call it quits.
If you want to take over Mardoc, feel free to do so. If you do not want to I will start looking for a replacement.

Sorry to hear that Tredje, I mostly just decided to lurk this thread because I enjoyed playing with you in PBEM12. I will agree though, that the pace of these games can get quite frustrating after a while.
I've got some dirt on my shoulder, can you brush it off for me?

I'm sorry to hear that, but hopefully I'll still see you around, just not in the PBEM section. It's been fun hanging out with you, except, well, recently when I've found myself nagging you to play a game .
As I think this one is the closest of everything in my signature to finishing up, I think I will go ahead and grab the reins, at least for now. If there's anyone out there also interested, though, let me know - I'm committed to an awful lot right now.

Though I'm overcommitted as well, if you want me to be more of a teammate and less of a dedlurker to help out, Mardoc, I'm willing and still unspoiled. Though if you want me to just continue to throw out NobleHelium-esque one liners, I can do that too.

I would appreciate it. Remember, our goal at this point is twofold - to be such a horrific example that Acheron/Sons combination is forever banned at RB, and to finish off the game quickly enough that it doesn't affect our other obligations much .

You're doing a pretty good job at that one...

I'd say those terms are pretty much achieved in the same manner.

Alright, it'll take a day or two to familiarize myself with the current situation, get input from Iskender (hopefully), etc. Here's approximately where we're at:
What's it look like? Well...we've got a Balseraph naval/marine invasion to deal with. We appear to have take two more Balseraph cities and be pressing on Coombe View.
The cities - well, they're working lots of improved tiles. They have hardly any infrastructure, as we've been forced to react more than act, and have only recently started getting the tech for it anyway. Building Elder Councils everywhere would add 25% to our tech rate, for instance, and building Markets would do something similar to our gold production.
Assuming we find a way to handle the naval invasion, I really want to put up Warrens everywhere, get Rantine built and started converting, and of course finish the Balseraphs and start on the next victim. And resettle the island. And use the Great Engineer. We've got lots of directions to go in, and we'll need to focus, I think, in order to achieve them.

Already done from the instant you cast the world spell and decided to keep the units I imagine

Thanks Mardoc, I really appreciate it. And if it wasn't for your participation in this thread I would have grown tired of this game much earlier. Both your and Gaspar's presence has been very welcome. If you'd like me to I could still hang around and offer any input I can.
In any case I think there are a couple of things I should mention. Bob first attacked me with three Triremes, but in chat he said that he had another one on the way. (He also told me why he had built all those Triremes. His plan was to go to Acheron and capture the remaining Sons ) So far we have seen one beefed up Swordsman and one lowly Warrior. If that's all the units he has our coastal cities should be safe. If he has reinforcements (max 3 more units I think) it might be necessary to reinforce cities like Shazzak and possibly Cevedes.
I was building Adepts in Braduk to get two more sources of Haste. The plan was to move one to the east and join up with our stack, while the other could stay in the west and make it easier to react to any coastal threat.
Shazzak has put quite a lot of hammers into Rantine. I think there should be less than 10 turns left.
Our NAP with SL expires on T140, while the NAP with Iskender has just been extended to T150. Iskender owes us Enchantment Mana at some point.
So far Iskender has done most of the planning when it comes to our military operations. He goes first and usually sends me a mail with his proposed moves. I think the plan now is to move east of Jubilee and threaten the stack of Adepts as well as Bob's eastern cities. If you decide to do so it might be necessary to put a couple of units in Coombe to avoid Bob sending a detachment over and recapturing it.
