I went ahead with my plan of mass horsemen first wave followed by constant elves. So you're stuck with this plan even if it fails - Go me >:} ![]() Many of the horseman will just go and capture villages so we can crank many many many expendable elves. We really need to keep almost all the horsemen alive for as long as we can since they will be doing the most heavy hitting. I bought 2 shamans because their 2nd attack will be great at reducing damage to the horsemen. Their secondary attack halves damage from the target until the end of the turn. Horsemen's charge ability causes them to do double damage on the attack but take double damage from counter attacks (damage is normal during defending). I probably should have taken 3 cav/1 scout instead and had the scout capture everything in the north. Delfador will be going to capture the village (top right most one on the next pic) on the coast and tie down that flank as our ally will invariable send a trickle of units to be slaughtered from that direction. AI started like this... ![]() ... and then bought a few wolves, trolls, and surprisingly 1 archer (horses are weak to archer counter attacks) T2 Captured more villages, too poor to buy anything else right now (Yipee) ![]() AI bought more stuff. I moved the 2 shaman I bought into the woods to bait/ZOC lock the wolves to make it so they can't force my knight to attack them from trees on the initial attack. T3 ![]() Notice the big don't let this unit die. It will be nice to have an uber grand knight that costs no upkeep later in game. I took more villages. T4 AI went after one of the shamans as planned and did very little damage as expected: ![]() T4 Proposed Moves The damaged shaman should use ensare on the Northern-most wolf by the shamans. There's a horseman on the village to the NE of the shamans that should attack first. You can then move the horsemen directly south of the shamans to attack the wolf from the north. You should then take the other shaman, ensare the southern-most wolf and then hit it with the loyal horseman. Don't over push to the west despite the timer. We need units to get strung out. I left Konrad to recruit elves (shaman spam would be lol). Save: http://www.gamefront.com/files/20592987/..._Turn_4.gz

Looks pretty good to me, grabbing all the income pronto - I suppose the next player (fire&ice?) is up for consolidating our troops and squishing a few orcs. And ideally getting some more XP on those shamans and loyal horsie
![]() I'm starting to think surviving 6 more turns won't be terribly challenging, not if only wolves are fast enough to make it all the way across the map in that period! Killing the orcish king is looking rather impossible, though. So probably the best goal is to play cautiously and focus on getting our XP. The goal for this scenario seems to be mainly just to get us set up properly for the rest of the campaign.

Oh yeah, I imagine that we have about 50% chances to kill both wolves. So getting them weak enough to die in a counter attack would be great.

Looks like some good turns, ASM!
![]() I am a little worried that we don't have much in the forests to serve as our "center". As the orcs send another wave or two at us, we will not have enough units to hold them away from our keep. Although I guess there are only 6 more turns in the scenario, so maybe that just isn't even a worry. Good luck Fire&Ice on getting our shamans and loyal units a bit of XP! |
