I decided to stop FFV and FF1 for a while to try beat the Japanese FF3. IMO this is the most difficult FF I have ever played (and seen, as some people who play the PS2 FF's made FF10 and up look easy). While at it, I'm thinking of an FF1 variant of this one, changing jobs at some points of the game, such as changing into Mages when the characters need to be small, or changing into Dark Knights to deal with the split monsters?
So, quick question: Is it plausible to go through FF3 without using Ninjas, except when say, I started out as a Thief, then I change to Ninja after defeating Bahamut?
I'm planning to use these job progressions for these characters based on the FF3j DS trailer:
Luneth - Fighter -> Knight
Arc - Black Mage -> Warlock
Refia - White Mage -> Shaman
Ingus - Red Mage -> Sage (?)

Afraid I don't have any advice there, I've never played FF3 myself.

I'm back with FFV now, and I'm playing an FF1-Style Playthrough. My characters are as follows:
Bartz - Knight + Lv4 White
Faris - Ninja + Lv3 Black / Lv3 Time
Lenna - White Mage + Dualcast
Galuf / Krile - Black Mage + Time Magic
I'm considering an FFX homage after this, with the setup as follows:
Bartz - Knight + Time Magic = Tidus
Faris - not sure about this, probably I'll make her either:
Lulu = Black Mage + Dualcast
Kimahri = Blue Mage + Lancer
Lenna - White Mage + Summoner = Yuna
Galuf - Samurai + Double Grip = Auron
Krile - Thief + Chemist = Rikku
And an FF9 one as well:
Bartz - Thief + Gil Toss = Zidane
Faris - Blue Mage + Barehanded = Amarant
Lenna - White Mage + Summoner = Garnet / Dagger
Galuf - Knight + Spellblade = Steiner
Krile - Black Mage + Dualcast = Vivi

Did anyone want to do a 100% story completion and extra speed run of tactics?

Well, I'm now inspired to pick up FFV and give it a play through. I'm ashamed to say I've never finished it. What's next in the Final Fantasy pantheon of game challenges?

Very impressive. From your closing thoughts, how possible would it be to do a solocore without a chemist component? Is Heavy just an essential to get through the encounters without reload?
Speaking of some variants basically being endless rerolls.. I wonder if Sullla is still going through solo berserker.

Well done. One question - would it have been possible to guarantee a win against ArcheaoAvis by using the Ninja image ability? I think its confusion attack is physical.

Hey Timmy, good point. That gets tight on ability space: you do need Time Magic to make sure ArchaeoAevis doesn't get double turns, so for that and Image you must be a Time Mage or Bare with limited offense. You might have to master Monk to transfer the barehanded ability to Bare but it does sound doable.

Are we talking whether it's possible with RNG luck (of course), or possible to make it guaranteed? Not sure. For Gilgamesh on the boat, there's no other defense against Death Claw, but you probably could level up enough for a one-turn kill before he can cast it (probably barehanded X-Fight.) World 2 Exdeath casts Condemn, which Reset can dodge; and Hurricane but I think you can always get a turn after it to recover.
Stalker packs Hurricane, and since the multiple images attack separately, you can't be guaranteed a turn after it. Hurricane comes on his third turn, can you guarantee 20k damage to all foes before that? I think so, with Masamune for initiative, haste shoes, and Quick/Bahamut. Apocalypse and Necrofobia are skippable. Tree Exdeath doesn't do any instant kills besides White Hole which is preventable. For Neo Exdeath, you can kill the Grand Cross part before it ever fires, maybe something like dual wielded Dragoon Spears.
So, maybe it is possible (after Karlabos), unless I've forgotten something... who wants to try?
