Any thoughts on your play during the game?
Ranking isn't easy. It depends how you value present moment and future prospects and trying to guess what happens in the future is pretty much impossible. I still had a large standing army clearly 2nd strongest so short term I would have survived and depending on what LP had in mind for me could either survive easily watching him launching the space ship or being in big trouble after he would've get some other key military techs. I still had reasonable GNP since I had avoided drafting and whipping my most valuable core cities although all my periferia cities were cribbled. Rego as the ally of LP would probably have taken the 2nd spot. I don't think that Adlain or Mackoti could get to strong position anymore even if LP would have helped them and Nakor was fast dropping to same group with them. Locke was quite far from LP and lot of good land obtained from Adlain, but LP would have eventually been a problem to him. SleepingMoogle's position would depend a lot how LP would view him, but I guess being far away would give him at minimum neutral position. Luddite was pretty much in the same boat with me. Depending on how LP playes future prospects vary considerably. So maybe somethng like this
1. LP
2. Rego
middle group - Locke, us, Luddite and Moogle
Last ones - Nakor, Mackoti and Adlain
I'm obviovusly happy for my early game and also to WK war although fighting with WK 2nd time ended up being very expensive and pretty much sealed the game to LP. Nevertheless I don't think I had much options there. I needed the land and couldn't have hostile neighbor forever.
My obvivously biggest mistake was making a super long NAP with LP and trusting his word. e.g. his diplo games basically ruined our relationship with Rego that backfired in the end. I don't understand why Rego decided to hand the game prematurely to LP. I suspct that his actions didn't change the winner, but they ended the game prematurely. The game became pointless to continue right after he decided to side with LP.
Nevertheless LP deserved the victory. I wouldn't use his methods in diplomacy, but they clearly were extremely effective. He also used huge amount of time to both diplomacy and playing the turns especially in the end. I'm a bit disappointed how eager he was to gain advantages with unsport but legitimate means e.g. for a very long time he was every turn being 1st and last to act, he didn't want to approve reload after my huge misclick and basically ruin all my chances right there and then and also probably persuading Rego to declare totally phony war (that wasn't even declared in game
) to get 1st strike during the 1st turn of war.
