If it's always war, there's no need to worry about war declarations, which was the hardest thing to manage before. What about making it simultaneous turns, but just dividing up the timer so that each team gets 6 hours to play in? Ideally everyone could get the same 6 hour window to play in every day.

I'm very new here, but would definitely be interesting in playing, especially if Spulla is back in action. I would just need a team-mate to make up for my lack of tactical expertise.

As much as I'd love to sign up, I better stick to ded lurking until the new computer gets built (as the old one does not want to run anything graphical for more than 20 minutes at a time now). Maybe I should get to work on researching those parts...

No delays for somebody sending the wrong file or otherwise chasing the save holder. Easy to log in and look around when it's not your turn, for reporting purposes. Easy for multiple teammates and players to share one civ, especially substitute turn players. (PBEM can do that but it's always clunkier with forwarding saves around and getting your tracker to handle it correctly.) No possibility of reloading and replaying to cheat on combat and other random results. No tracker needed, everybody always knows whose turn it is.
Disadvantages of sequential Pitboss as opposed to PBEM: Must be connected online to play. Recovering from a misclick requires a reload by the game admin. And the occasional delay from Sunrise's frequent power outages. But on the whole, I think sequential Pitboss does have the better of both worlds.

I agree T-Hawk, well said. Something that you may not have explicitly included: once you've set your router correctly subbing into a pitboss game is incredibly easy, just give someone the IP and password.
Related additional negative: requires some firewall/router settings, so either requires 5 minutes of effort or is a total dealbreaker depending on router access.

I [strike]will be[/strike] am interested as back-up teammate and turn-player, but I don´t feel I am good enough for leading civ alone against such players
I am GMT +1 so I would rather join someone from Europe

If there's a team of LoL players I'd be interested to join in :P

If you did that, it would need to be at least a 48-hour timer, probably 72 or 96. Especially because in-game "6 hours" isn't 6 hours of real time, so a 6-hour window would fail miserably with missed turns all the time: the narrow window would change from day to day, and you'd find yourself having to play at 2:30 in the morning in order to keep the game going at some point. The advantage of that type of setup is that it makes it a little easier for a team's players to coordinate on a turn, because they'd all be moving simultaneously, but there could be issues with people wondering "Is It My Window Yet?"
This game will be slower than anything but PB3, I suspect, no matter how it's setup.

Yeah, I'll withdraw my interest actually, it's going to too hard playing at weird hours, I tend to play my B game whenever I just wake up. A shame, because I'm terrible at diplomacy and good at being a paranoid poseur, which is what I think you need for AW.

WHen can we start picking teams from the people who have signed up? Will they just be assigned randomly?
How will we decide order of choosing civ/leaders, although I suppose it doesn't matter much?
If all this ends up being too grandoise/sign ups aren't enough, would you want to play a more normal game?
When can we get a Pitboss 6 forum for ideas bouncing?
