Well, we'll need a highly leveled leader for this campaign. I think he also gets leadership stuff which gives bonus to low level units. Some of those commander elves would also be useful.
I mean, we will want to level new units after we nearly max our units since the last few levels of this campaign are a grindy slugfest.

Hmm, I didn't think about that angle, but yes, the way leadership works ought to be perfect for helping get new units leveled - it gives a damage bonus to all adjacent troops of lower level than the leader. Once we have a core of level 2/3 units, anyway .
I mostly meant that for now, I'm not too broken up by Konrad having to stay back and recruit instead of fighting at the start of every level.
I guess that means it's back to you, ASM, whenever you have the chance to play.

Ummmmm...is this good?
Or has ASM perhaps been celebrating the weekend a mite enthusiastically?

On leveling up: I've only recently picked up this game, and so far have only played on "Normal" difficulty, but I've found that during mop-up time, it's best to get units as close as possible to leveling up without actually doing so when possible. (Exceptions: Units with leadership or healing abilities that will be needed ASAP in the next scenario.)
Leveling up is the only way for a unit to heal during the enemy's turn, and heals the unit completely. As such, though it loses a little bit of firepower on first contact, an almost-leveled unit can survive a several-on-one rush by healing (and turning into a next-level unit) in between attacks. (Then too, if you have units with Leadership, lower-level units supported by the Leader can sometimes be more effective attackers than higher-level units - but this applies only occasionally.)

The funniest thing I've seen with the level up heal is that dwarf steel clads on mountains will often be able to level-up heal before dying if they have heal support so they are pretty much unkillable.

T10:
This is where we left off...
I just kinda swarm the remaining orcs.
I think I ZOC all the important characters but I left Delfador out and he goes down to about 4 HP and dodges the last attack :
I didn't have or want to use that XP black hole anymore anyway.
T11
More swarming:
T12
I surround the boss and take him down with ranged. Got the kill on our mage. Also at some point, I make a sorceress just because its fun.
Story Time
Thoughts
Our loyal knight should probably become the big ol' grand knight. We'll want one or two paladins due dealing with undead and for healing our cav. There's a particularly nasty encounter later on. Mage could become a mage of light (uber white mage if you recall) which makes it always day around him. I suppose we could go with fire mage but they eat so much XP. The teleport mage is alright but not particularly feasible (they are really for assassination).

Looks good, ASM! I thought it would take a bit longer than that - it appears I gave you too much to work with :neenernee
If I remember correctly, we can get nearly enough force to take all the water
forces in this level just by opening all the cages and grabbing that trident - and the mermen are all Loyal, too.

If I remember right I had enough force that I only recruited two units from the castle and let the mermen just destroy both leaders
Note: that was on normal
