Nice work getting us started on this map, Mardoc.
A couple thoughts:
- Only the dark adepts should be able to ZOC us, as level 0 units do not exert ZOC.
- What XP do we get for fighting and killing level 0 units, anyway? I thought the formula was <enemy level> XP for surviving a battle, and <8 x enemy level> XP for killing an enemy. But for level 0 units....
- Dark adepts...meh. If they manage to level up they could be dangerous, and if you got several on a unit with no ranged attack (like horsemen) it would be a problem. But they should be easy enough to kill if we are even slightly careful.
Good luck, fire&ice!

I think
Killing a level 1 unit provides 8 XP, a level 2 16 -- these I am sure of. Maybe it is 8 * (unit level or 1, whichever is greater)?
And I hope there is some experience for surviving a level 0 fight, or else we will not get nearly the XP out of this map as I was hoping.

Fighting level 0, I'm not sure - it might even be 0. Killing level 0 gives us 4 XP. There's also a few Blood Bats recruited toward the end, those guys are quick and might pile on to a wounded unit.
Really the main concern I have is that the units I recruited were picked based on what I want to level, not on what would be the best for fighting. So we have a lot of squishy soldiers on the field. I'm sure it's still enough to win (or if not, we can always run to the signpost), but it would rather defeat the purpose if we level half and lose the other half.

You should be fine as long as you don't get stuck on the wrong side of the swamps at night. It can easily get really-bad-zombie-apocalypse if you get swarmed.

Meh. Makes general fighting very unattractive if only the kills matter. But we will have to grab what we can.

I don't expect real problems against these guys. We may have a lot of squishies on the field, but the enemy is not exactly fielding their star line up either.

If we have swamp issues, remember that mermen are great in swamps. And they are neutral and do not suffer any penalties at night. Still have to deal with +25% undead, but I think we have good opportunities to pick up XP for our loyal mermen.

No, mermen are actually lawful too. Although you've a point that anyone in defensive terrain can be pretty good.
I did test - fighting lvl 0's does not give XP, only killing them does. But they have no resistances and only 18 hp, so it shouldn't be too hard to get to the killing

Heck, on flat ground, I think the first strike from a charging horseman should slice them in half.
I feel like I remember, from the castle-on-an-island mission (next one?) once having Konrad (probably L2? it was a few years ago...) standing at the gate and killing around 10 of them in a round as they rushed across the bridge. Of course, that would also do a ton of damage to him, even at 60% defenses, and I think he was only saved by the level-up heal.

Actually, was it this campaign that had the land of the rising dead? 5 enemy leaders, of which 4 of them were just spamming walking dead. I still remember the nightmares of having powerful units... they just suicided in droves. Every unit that attacked died, leaving space for the next unit... and the next... and the... WAIT A MINUTE DID MY GRAND KNIGHT JUST DIE.
Repeat until suddenly i have 10 units dead, and there are even more walking dead coming.
I still dread that scenario.
