Team Bring It!™ Planning Thread

Just to complete the thoughts on the game last night - here is my summary of what happened for me as Gandhi of Korea.

Firstly and most importantly, I think Philosophical is an absolute must for us in this game. The sheer amount of GP I got out in the ~100 turns we played was remarkable. Combined the Great Library with the National Epic and Pacifism from an early philosophy bulb (around T20 if not even earlier than that) and I was churning out over 50GPP per turn in one city which produced mainly scientists and later engineers.

I bulbed techs from scratch like Philosophy, Machinery & paper alongside part-bulbing Education near the end. I also gained an academy and had a golden age. I also rushed the Hanging Gardens and Taj Mahal. That's all I can remember, think there was at least a couple more bulbs I can't remember.

This is a big boost for us because if we figure out the bulb order for Scientists & Merchants then I can switch quickly to Caste and run out a quick Civil Service/Philosophy bulb while we research another tech. We can also get plenty of academies if we need it.

Spiritual is also really helpful with the civics and religions available for us to switch to early on. I can spend a few turns in serfdom to get my workers improving faster if needs be - or can quickly swap to Nationhood to draft muskets if I need it - which Bob made sure that I did!

Right, I forgot to write up that report...bluh.

Thanks for the reports! I wish I would have been around to try some MP with you, sounds like it was a fun game.

TT - here is one of my fav reference threads at civfanatics: http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=140952. Right off the bat a Great Sci will pop Philosophy, a Great Merch will pop Civil Service, and a Great Artist will get Music.

Well, to Bob, if the team rejejct can beat the Sulla/Speaker team on this grounds, they'll get a pretty nice feather for their hats, right?

Very frankly, i believe the main task for this game is simply to get the other 2 teams to dogpile the SS team, weakening all 3 of them. Meanwhile, we tech upwards.

One thing I should have mentioned- since you can get forges built quickly, it's pretty simple to get engineers generated early. One possibility would be for at least one of you guys to start out with an engineer so that you can be guaranteed an early wonder. I went for the Mausoleum in our mp game, but I wonder if the Apostolic Palace might be best. It's a long shot, but if everyone generated early engineers you might be able to set up the religion econ LP had going in PB4. That would involve researching otherwise useless stuff like Divine Right though, so I don't know if it would be worthwhile. Do the Minaret and Sankore provide benefits for the entire team, or just whoever builds them?

The religion econ would work for the gandhi combo of Spi/Phi with the 50% off temples etc, but would be a bit more annoying for the others and probably a bit suboptimal.

Only thing is that I'd probably have to look at going Engineer->Prophet (for Divine Right) first which could be a bit longer than revolting to Caste asap and running a scientist/merchant as soon as I have food.

It would also likely mean that I am 'polluting' my GP pool and so it may mean a few low odds less useful GPs later.

Its probably one of those decisions we can make when we see what leaders we are up against - i.e which Philo leader they choose.

Also, on the MP thing.

Maybe we could all try and arrange a time where we could all play together and play against 3 Immortal AIs just to get a taste of tech pace of a 3 way team and get a little bit of practice at playing the way we will be looking to do in the actual game.

Practice makes perfect!

Well, you have three players and three dedicated lurkers. If you can get everyone together, you could try a players vs. dedilurkers game.

That could be fun and useful - especially if we used duplicate combos and then make notes after on differing strategies to see what may be better or come up with new ideas

Indeed, it would be very useful.
