Is that character a variant? (I just love getting asked that in channel.) - Charis

[SPOILERS]Novice, Spacemanmf and Athlete4life10 are HUYANA CAPAC OF CHINA

Was going to try to allocate all of Pegasus' power tonight, but couldn't be bothered. Too busy watching Lancashire win.

Anyway, I've attached the WB save. It's not perfect, as I've said, not least because the turn order is out, so the AI will move before you get a chance to. The best way of using it is to start as the Sumerians. Whilst the AI takes control of China, all it does (apart from needlessly suicide some crappy units) is reduce the defence to 0%. You can then see how the cats & HAs fare against the units. And that's without the upgrades I did.

One thing on ad hoc's position. I think this is the weakness of having no War Elephants. He has no counter to Conquistadors - longbows being the best, but I don't think he has Feudalism does he? War Elephants should be allowed in these games once, say, Guilds has been researched. (EDIT: OK, that doesn't really make sense since if you got to Guilds, why would you build WEs, but something similar maybe.)

I'm out for most of tomorrow night so feel free to play the turn.

I was debating in my head today whether we should send the sentry chariot 1NW of Britannia to see what's around first, sending the rest of the troops to the landing point. Although I'm not sure what it achieves really cos I'm not sure we would see anything to change our minds. There'll be a few relay troops that he'll have lying around, including 7-10 HAs, I would have thought.

Saves are in (for this and 17). Apologies, I marked the PBEM13 save as read (was curious as to why we had it twice), but I haven't done anything with it at all.

I ran another sim last night, although this was without the Knights being promoted, without the maces and with no promotions. Our cats survive reasonably well intact, but we did lose a couple of units to the HAs.

The main issue is if Pegasus/Krill has another bunch of cats and HAs that we haven't seen. But his power graph hasn't gone crazy in the last few turns.

So what do you recommend? Move in everything on the staging tile, and promote some cuirs to CII and some muskets to GI?

Yeah, sod it, eh. Let's just do it. Have a look first with the sentry chariot, though. See what you can see.

But yeah, promote some cuirs to Combat II. Perhaps mix the muskets between Guerilla I and Combat I - we have plenty of them after all - and Combat I will leave them more flexible for future missions.

Or not.

That's 37 horse archers in Krill's reserves stack.

We called off the attack, finished the Taj Mahal and kept teching towards Rifling (due in ~7 turns). After ending turn we got a great prophet, which was not what we wanted, but oh well.

Meanwhile, Ruff is all set to stomp Ad Hoc. This could get interesting.

Finally, an oddity from opening the save. It seems the game has taken our alliance with Ruff to the next level.

Can't see the pics alas - will look tonight. Weird evening yesterday. Left a film early in Manchester to ensure I could get home amid the riots. The Realms Beyond website was down when I got home. And there were 37 (!) HAs in Sumerian lands.

Anyway, I will set up a test tonight, but I'm all for waiting for Rifling, although he will probably have 60+ HAs by then!

We can switch to Nationhood with the last turn of the Golden Age and go all out for churning out an even vaster army.

We should try to ensure that he doesn't hook up iron to get Knights cos that could make it messy all over again. Can we send a musket to "his" iron? And perhaps a couple of triremes too?

After Rifling, we can head to Optics to hook up the whales.

Hmmm, can see the pictures in PBEM17 but not here. Must be a blip. Will check later. Or just open the save.

EDIT: OK, can see them now.

Ha, that's really weird in Top Kicker.

According to Krill, this will come with the save:

Quote:Frederick: If you don't piss off I'm going to grind down any attack you make and Ruff is going to overtake you.
Frederick: So here's an offer.
Frederick: You get the north.
Frederick: I'll gift you a bunch of settlers and workers to fill it in
Frederick: If you want you can be evil and use the settlers and workers to claim Ruffs north
Frederick: You can tech for the next 60 turns
Frederick: and come back at me/Pegasus with a bunch of tanks and kill the empire off quickly with no fear of losing out

Right then, I've done another WB save. Hopefully this is good for testing...

Although as you have wisely done we need some of those units to defend Speed Limit given he can one-move it with those HAs.

Addendum:

Quote:Frederick: I would ask for your World map just to have a gander at what the world is like, with obvious no trade clause, if you were willing, but that's just to sate my curiosity. And the NAP would obviously be undisclosed to others, if you wished, and we can keep up the war for appearances sake.
