I agree we shouldn't be talking to them abotu game stuff. As to leader/civ picks, it's a grey area. Technically, we'll know what they decide when we see it in game. If they are telling us WHY they picked civs that's mostly just them being dumb!
However, going forward, oledavy it would probably be good not to discuss the game with other team players.

I do also agree we should avoid talking to other teams about civ/leader choices. I do agree that it's mostly foolish of them to be sharing their thoughts (and lets, um, not do that), but yeah, try to completely avoid that kind of chatting if at all possible.

I didn't think of it as anything illegal. In the conversation in question, myself and Pindicator shared general thoughts on the game, talking about traits and civ picks - nothing specific to the game (i.e. - 'we should all attack Sulla') It was not my intent to break the variant rules. Thank you both for pointing it out.
On the whole 'send a message' to other teams debate. I would rather not do anything that could be seen as 'questionable' after the game. In the off chance that we win, I don't want Sulla to find anything that could detract from our victory. I concur with Scooter that actions speak louder than words. As long as we don't harass the team in question, I believe they may get the point - an unspoken armistice. If a team is looking to war with someone, I think they'll attack the Dream Team rather than come after the team that never messed with them. I do believe and hope that the Lewwyn/Luddite/ASM team will be gunning for Spulla's head and ideally we can capitalize on this by either REXing or joining the dogpile.

People are not doing enough silly walks!
I mostly agree with the opposition's assessment, but I do not think all three teams need to dogpile the Sulla team to have a chance at winning.

Thanks, Ilios! I think this is a good reminder. If we go into the game feeling defeated already, we will be. Instead, we have to remember for all their skills, war is complex and can go badly. It's easier to defend than attack so if we can avoid a head to head conflict with Spulla in their own territory. I for one, plan to win!

Yeah this. Sorry if I came across as saying otherwise . This game is definitely winnable.

I also agree with this. There are just some many things that can happen, and I don't think the skill level of our team is so far below their's that we can't take advantage of something aside from them getting dogpiled and be able to win the game. For example, if our neighbors by chance were to happen to expand away from us (or if we got paired close to one of the weaker players in the game who expanded badly) that could be an opportunity to get a stronger position than spulla that I think we are a strong enough team to leverage. Also, it is worth pointing out that even strong teams can make mistakes (See Byz in PB2).
Also, this may be totally inaccurate in hindsight, but I got a bit of a sense that Team 2 may not have the most experience on Medieval starts based on the fact that they were afraid that the tech pace would go too quickly. I haven't followed any of them in any other games so I don't know them as players outside of that, but for what it is worth that was the sense I got from the setup thread.

Not to start this up in yet another thread, but if someone else somehow manages to win this, I guarantee Sulla will find something that will attempt to detract from your victory.
I've got some dirt on my shoulder, can you brush it off for me?
