OK, I checked the save, and we can produce a great person in 6 turns without slowing ourselves down too much. 6 turns should be enough to discover Constitution, Democracy and Banking. The plan then is to start a golden age, revolt to Representation/Bureacracy/Mercantilism/Caste System/Pacifism, and try to build SoL and produce 2 more GPs to extend the GA to 18 turns. Then tech away and try to catch up and protect ourselves against any possible aggression

Wow, lots happening while I've been away! I apologize that I had to disappear right at the crucial moments. RL7 feeding GES specific information about us does make me angry. Who knows what the game would look like if we got the Taj GA and Apostolic Palace instead of GES? But it is what it is.
So what do we do? I'm really not sure. We really needed a decisive victory against GES to stay relevant. At this point I think we're more kingmaker than contender. I personally don't like the idea of specifically throwing the game to one team over another. I think we should keep making the decisions that best benefit our empire, and let the chips fall where they may. I do not believe we banned city gifting. My post in the organizing thread said "City gifts as part of war concessions are ok" and I don't see anybody disagreeing with me. So we should probably take what we can get, which is the 2 cities. Honestly, up against rifles, we won't get much else. After that we should hardcore infra push. This war has unintentionally broken up the biggest power bloc in the game. RL7 knows GES hates them now. Maybe they'll distract each other long enough for us to catch up some? It's optimistic, but I think its the best shot we have.
Hey Maestro, how is it going?
I'm going to take the deal, and if RL7 are unhappy, then screw them We don't have much chance of catching up, but I think the SoL plan is viable and could at least bring us in contention. In any case, I'm not going to give up just because our plan didn't work

Signed the peace treaty. Set research to Constitution, 2 turns at 0%, then full speed ahead towards Democracy. Hired 2 merchants and 2 priests in Maximum in addition to the engineer it had. The great person should be ready in 6 turns, and we have no idea who it will be. This turn, the odds were Artist 54%, Prophet 28%, Engineer 18%. Now that we added merchants, it will become even more complicated. Not that I care: any GP can start a golden age I think even if we pop a GE, I will use him for GA, not for SoL Stopped almost all military builds. Noticed that we were spending 25 gpt in unit cost, and with hard heart disbanded the stack on Galleons Sent the great scientist to RL7 - I have no intention of going back on deals I sign
A question - we spawned a GG while attacking Luddite's stack, how do we want to use him? He won't be useful right now, but mid-term all options are viable: we can create a super-medic (although I'd prefer to wait until we have compass and join him with an Explorer), we can wait until Military Science and build a Military Academy in Maximum for an insane 150% bonus on unit production (with Heroic Epic), or we can join him to a city as military instructor. The latter option is the most useful short-term, because as a super-specialist, he will also produce 3 beakers in Representation. If we choose this option, we also need to think if we want to settle him in Ultra or in Maximum; Maximum is better as unit producer, but Ultra is also decent, and we will get a better bonus on those 3 beakers (actually, we won't get any bonus in Maximum, it doesn't even have a Library yet)
Do we have a 10xp unit required to build the heroic epic? If not, I'd actually lean toward the medic option, because that will make the HE available. We can wait for an explorer, or just stick him on a scout. We never want our medic defending regardless
We did get qualifying units attacking Luddite's stack, two of our Knights have 11 XP, we only need to upgrade one of them to unlock HE. We can't build it yet though, we still don't have Lit
Oh, one more question. How and when do we want to confront RL7? From the formal point of view, we have nothing on them, they didn't break any deals. And we are getting whales from them, so cancelling all dealings with them right away doesn't sound like the wisest move
My thought is to inform them that no new deals will be signed between our teams when (if) the question of renewing our NAP arises. There is a decent chance the game will be resolved one way or another by that time anyway; last turn GES overtook us for power lead, so he has a big army right now. The ease with which he agreed to ours and Commodore's demands for peace (Commodore told me he also negotiated a peace treaty and got everything he wanted in it) suggests that he's going to attack RL7 sooner rather than later So I guess sitting on the info for now and confronting them at the most convenient moment would be the best play

RL7 got Democracy, started a GA, and revolted to UniSuffrage and a lot of other things. I wonder if we still have a shot at SoL. Maybe we do, after all we have all those pre-chopped forests. But it's expensive, chops won't get it for us, and I'm afraid 2 hammers he will be getting from each town will be too much Not much happening otherwise. I'm whipping Retro GM and Europa Plus like there's no tomorrow - because there isn't, we will be out of Slavery in 4 turns, and these cities with no production will have to live with whatever they can whip before then
GES and RL7 beating each other up is really our only shot at this game. We definitely say nothing, sit back, build infra, and hope that they slow each other down enough for us to catch up. What civics are planned for the revolt? If we're popping a Golden Age, I think Pacifism for the extra Great Person production (which stacks with the GA bonus) might be smart. Bureau also, since our land isn't well enough developed for Free Speech to be very good.
