So while looking at the map the other day
I was specifically thinking of the E/G conflict around Hol/Bel
Germany's fleet in Picardy is in trouble, so the "obvious" move is Ruh, Hol S Pic-Bel, Kie S Hol.
And England's "obvious" response would be Den-Kie, Nth S Bel-Hol
So a killer move from Germany might be Ruh S Hol, Hol S Pic-Bel, which would keep Holland and retake Belgium

I think that I would have removed F Sev, but if Russia can get "peace" from Austria by disbanding A Bul it might be worth it.

Thoughts from England
Quote:Change of plans.
This push against Germany is getting me nowhere. It’s going to continue to get me nowhere. So, new plan:
Move against France. This means abandoning Belgium, but that’s fine. Belgium only holds as long as France and Germany don’t decide to kick me out of it. France is about to steam-roll east if I let him, and then he’ll be unstoppable.
At the same time, I need to:
Hold Denmark
Crack StP.
So, how to do all of that?
Eng- Mao and Bel – Eng: If I’m going to press west, Bel will crumble anyway. If Mar – Pie happens, then I do Mao – Spa (SC) in F05, followed up with Eng – Mao. If not…then I just grab Por, and have Mao also to try and grab Spa at some point, while trying to tighten the noose elsewhere.
Nth – Ska, Edi – Nth: the plan is to kick Russia out of Bal in F05, and hopefully have Nwy/Bar as well.
I think that he originally was going after Germany (with Bel S Nth-Hol)

He also penciled in oledavy as Turkey, given our recent delay coinciding with Turkey needing to order a retreat

Some chats with France
Quote:France:Still need to think about what to do with F Eng
And hte fact that E just bounced out of German ywith no gains
me: good thing you don't need to do anything with it - it's england's unit
France: well true
it does mean that I need to get a fleet into MAO though
because I am not particularly safe in Por/Spa
I know how to get Rom, and keep Bre, Por and Spa this year.
if E decides to get frisky
which tbh is the only thing that really makes sense
E just failed to get into Germany
so he either tries again (doubtful, when you just smakcked your head on a wall you don't do it again thinking you'll knock the wall down this time), attacks Russia (units are in the wrong place) or he attacks me. And he has F Eng
I wasn't particualr;y happy with he moved F Lon-Eng the first time
a year later, and still there, definitely not in a good mood about it
and I don't see what I should keep on pushing east into A, pissing him off, if E just stabs me.

France: Currently thinking I need to move out of Brest this turn though...
A Mar-Spa, F Tys-Wes
If I was absolutely paranoid, I'd also order A Bur-Gas
but Germany is still around and I need to defend against then, so really considering A Par S A Bre-Pic, A Bre-Pic, then next turn I can order A par-Bre, A Pic-Bre, or A Bur S A pic-bel, A pic-bel etc

France: And I have no map
Amazingly prescient given the recent comments from England. It was tough not to try and have an actual conversation with him, which I couldn't do because I'm (obviously) spoiled

Letters From Austria: post-1904 edition!
Quote:Dear Russia,
I'm writing to you first because you are the most important person to talk to. You keep sniping little centers of mine, and yet show no serious signs of aggression, partially because you are incapable of doing so. I'll be honest - I don't like it one bit. However, we need each other right now. I have a France problem. You have an England problem. I don't need a Russia problem and you don't need an Austria problem... So let's chill ok? I'll let you borrow Bulgaria for now, as long as I get 2/3 Turkish centers. I had a much nastier version of this letter prepared, but then you removed your Bulgarian army, which defused things every so slightly. So here's the dealio. Let's play it cool in the Balkans and take it to those nasty westerners. Mkay? Okay.
With mostly love and a little bit of hate,
Austria
-------------------------
Dear Turkey,
I'd really appreciate if you just moved to Syria and Armenia and got this thing over with. Also, prepare some good Turkish food or something. I'm hungry.
With insincere condolences,
Austria
--------------------------
Dear Italy,
Sorry bro, Tyrolia sucks this time of year. Kind of an obnoxious place to hang out though. Our citizens of Vienna and Trieste are the high-class types, and your meddling punks in Tyrolia play their music much too loud. Get out and begone.
With a penchant to yell "get off my lawn",
Austria
---------------------------
Dear England,
Remember that one time you almost built an army? LOL yeah that was funny. But then we knew you were kidding and you swapped to a fleet. I guess if you want to be France's little ocean pawn, you can keep building fleets and never actually, you know, capture meaningful land. Sorry, but Denmark does not count as meaningful land. Your only European holding right now is Belgium and, uh, it's not exactly safe at the moment. So, I guess what I'm trying to say is... When you have an army more significant than 30 dudes in Denmark with a few rifles, let me know. Until then, I'll talk to real nations.
With some type of condescension,
Austria
----------------------------
Dear France,
Honestly, there's no way I'm letting you keep all that Italian land. Sorry bro. I'm not sure what else to say to you though. You've gotten every lucky break imaginable so far, and you are the clear leader. Thankfully, you are much less cool than we are, so we have that going for us.
With a little bit of envy,
Austria

If I were Austria, I would support myself to Tyrolia and hope Germany leaves Munich open for a retreat

Looks like Austria did support himself to Tyrolia but left Vienna (!) also open for a retreat. He probably has the units to kick him out in the fall and if I'm Italy I retreat to Munich anyways but still that seems like some

Quote:So some initial thoughts
Austria: Like I said - some there in Vienna but recoverable. I'd retake Bulgaria if I were him.
England: Don't like the move to swap to France, ESPECIALLY now that France sniffed it out. The very worst thing you can do in Diplomacy, especially in no-press diplomacy, is swap around. Now Germany has new blood, and it will take years (if it's even possible) to rebuild things with France
France: Looking in solid shape. England is stymied and he's going to pick up a build from Rome.
Germany: He lives! He's actually on track to get a build this year, depending on what Italy does
Italy: Should be gone this year
Turkey: Should also be gone this year or at the very least next year
Russia: Doing all right - England has plenty to worry about in the north and he should take Ankara this year.

That English army in Denmark is horribly misplaced
