[Spoilers]Don't Shoot the Archduke! Diplomacy Lurker Thread

Hi guys =) I must admit i thought i would survive at least one more year due to the fact that Italy had no reason to kill me off, but he did. It's been a nice game.

Good Try. Just remember, next time, never EVER let Russia into the Black Sea.

What was i supposed to do, bounce him 3 more cycles? I decided to take a risk in trusting him, and it backfired completely. Once he convoyed that army over, i was doomed actually.

Hey everyone. Glad to see a couple comments that my thread was enjoyed. Sorry that it got neglected the last few turns, but once I was down to just a few centers, there wasn't much interest in full-blown tactical discussions like I had done previously. Was a fun game though!

Mardoc Wrote:Definitely bad for him. The only question is whether he trusted Scooter, or thought he'd bluffed scooter away from Brest.

Nah, I definitely never told him I'd stay out of Brest after I took the Channel. I think Nakor just gambled, which honestly I would've done if I was in his shoes too. When you're facing a 3v1, you might as well take some risks, and that's what he did. That's actually why I decided to go for Brest, because he played the moves exactly how I would've played them.

Lewwyn's handover to Regoarrar really has changed this game dramatically. I said this to a couple people via chat - but Lewwyn REALLY had Regoarrar pinned down as bad as Uberfish has me pinned... And then he got a mild stab from Rowain and suddenly now Regoarrar has an outside shot at a solo win (more likely a draw). Germany still has a very real shot at a solo win. It mostly depends on how quickly they can dispose of Rowain's western holdings (Iberia + Marseilles). If he can get clear down and take Tunis, that'll give him enough for a solo (assuming he takes St. Petersburg too that is - which seems likely).

All seems a bit of a boring stalemate atm, don't understand why Italy doesnt attack somebody for a start.

As Jackie Moon once said "Somebody hit somebody!"

General summary of the current situation:

Russia, Italy, Germany Remaining.

Germany and Italy willing to call the draw.

Russia thinks they can solo.

Italy fears attacking either party b/c then the 3rd party will push to 18 and win outright.

Russia has been patiently pushing Germany in the north and making incremental gains. Regoarrrar knows the stalemate lines so I assume he's confident he can push until Germany establishes one.

What happens if 2 retreating units try to withdraw to the same tile?

Good question.

Although in this case, the german fleet in Finland must retreat to Sweden and the russian fleet in the Baltic must retreat to Prussia, as a unit cannot retreat to the area from which it was attacked.
I have to run.

iirc they both disband.
