Constitution is in, and I vetoed Democracy. If RL7 are going for SoL, we will not get it. They have Levees, their riverside towns provide 3 hammers each in GA, no way we will match it, even with our 4 unchopped forests
We will need Democracy soonish, when people start adopting Emancipation. But right now, it's not a high priority tech. So I chose Banking next, we will need it to adopt Mercantilism anyway. Maestro, if you want to try for SoL regardless, I will get Democracy next, but I don't think there's any point - better research something useful, like Railroad and Rifling. And Literature, yes

I hate to even mention it, but we have access to 5 religions. Can we still win culture?

Hired another merchant in Maximum to get the GP one turn earlier. A great artist was born at the end of the turn
Researched Replaceable Parts. I'm tempted to research Aest and Lit at 0% before turning research back on. Oxford is not far away now, collecting money for a few turns seems to be a good idea
Signed a number of resource deals, including agreeing to give resources GES/Luddite lost by gifting the cities back to them. These resources are duplicates for us, and I want to restore as much goodwill as possible between our teams. We're now sending them deer, furs and ivory, and getting corn from them. Also signed corn for gems with Commodore, these are duplicate resources for both of us, just a backup trade in case other supplies are cut
RL7 are researching Electricity, and their power rating started to grow again

How many monasteries do we need to build cathedrals? 2 monasteries per cathedral or 3?

Temples, not Monasteries. 3 temples are needed to unlock a particular cathedral.

Huh, it shows I never tried to win a cultural victory, doesn't it?

Started GA, revolted as planned. Hired artists in Maximum and merchants in Echo of Moscow, both show the next GP in 6 turns. One will be delayed, of course, but we should be able to extend the GA
Research at 0%, but we're getting around 170 beakers from Representation specs. Aest in, Lit and Music will follow. The 5th Uni will be completed in 4 turns, then we will mostly chop Oxford
After the 2nd GA, we should start thinking about how to sneak a culture victory. If it's possible of course. The 2nd GA ends T140, NAP with RL7 expires T141. We could very well be under attack and defenceless against them

OK, I don't know where I lost track of turn numbers, but when I opened the last save, it said T125, so that's where we are now
Seven got unhappy about us adopting Mercantilism, he said that we agreed to maintain open borders, and adopting Mercantilism breaks this agreement, or at least its spirit. Threated to bring Privateers to our land because "they don't violate the letter of the NAP too". I talked to Luddite about confronting him about the Great Engineer gift to GES; Luddite doesn't mind me doing it, but advises against it if we want to go to war against RL7 with them. And it's probably wise. So I submitted to Seven's bullying, and agreed to pay him 20 gpt as long as we're in Merc
Also, I'm an idiot. A stupid one. I forgot that RL7 adopted Universal Suffrage because he has Pyramids - he didn't need Democracy for it, and he doesn't have it! I have my doubts about SoL though, it's a huge hammer sink, even with all our bonuses
Basically, if we want to go for culture, SoL will be helpful. Although maybe not very helpful, running 6 or 7 specialists doesn't make that much difference to GP production. If the game is going to end in a dogpile vs Seven (and that's looking more and more likely), then we should ignore SoL and quickly build infra, to start building Cavalries, Cannons and Machine Guns as soon as the techs come
I guess that's the way to go. I don't want to try to backdoor culture when Luddite and Commodore will be making Seven pay for his sins. Basically, I want to switch civics 3 more times in this GA, ending it by a switch to military civics, being able to build at least Cavalries and Machine Guns, preferably Infantries. Not sure if it will be possible, but why not try
The bad thing of course is that Seven is researching Radio right now (due in 3 turns). When he attacks, it most probably will be with Bombers and Tanks. Not good, but what can we do

Literature in, Heroic Epic started in Maximum. Luddite is going for SoL, and we probably have a chance to beat him, but I won't want to. As long as RL7 don't get it, I'm happy. Although the latest info on them is that they're going for Kremlin, and they're researching Radio, so probably they want Cristo Redentor too. Oh well, we can't deny them anything being so much behind in tech
Good news we learned from Luddite is: there is no land-based oil on the map. So we won't see Tanks or Bombers until Plastics - much later than I feared. This way, Cavalries could very well be relevant when we start the dogpile
So, the plan: tech Democracy, Economics, maybe Corps (although +1 trade route will be irrelevant if everyone is going to switch to Merc to deny RL7 trade routes, and that's probable), then Music -> MilTrad + Rifling, and start spamming Cavalries
An interesting question though: RL7's power rating is growing fast. They don't have Rifling, so they're not building Rifles or Infantries. They don't have Music, so they're not building Cuirassiers or Cavalries. They don't have Combustion, so they're not building Destroyers. What are they building then?? Machine Guns? Airships? A mystery
