SleepingMoogle Wrote:So I watched a few matches of LoL in between the Starcraft 2 ones at ESL, and it looked pretty intriguing. This has probably been asked a million times already, but is there anything that you would advice to someone who is considering giving LoL a try? smile

To succeed at LoL, pick a champion you like, figure out the way they're built (looking at the recommended builds and grasping the idea from there is a fine starter), possibly reading about them from other players (sites like solomid or teamliquid have plenty of decent information). Once in game, score every minion kill possible for gold and try your best not to die. And don't be afraid of nopony that is trying to troll you or hurt your feelings in-game, no matter how badly you might be doing.

Had anypony on the first page bothered with updating the name list, you'd get a quick referential of the people you should invite to your friends list (our most common playing circle consists of Sullla, PhoenixCull, Seyruun, VarisNox, BertrandDeHorn, sunrise089, Terror Incognita - add those names to friends to your LoL list and we'll show you around! I would give you Speaker or Metallian usernames, but they're highly competitive ponies and I wouldn't want to bother their busy heads when you have so much to learn)

Oh, and we're all playing on the US server, even European ponies like Terror and me.

Also, don't get dehydrated! Drink lots of water!

Hmm, the US servers eh? Is latency an issue there for someone playing from Europe?

I have 200 ping when I play. Sometimes it makes me play sloppy in lane and I can't probably do things like those at-the-edge-of-the-range Trundle pillars or Anivia/Karthus walls but I endure and I don't really care. I play for my friends and they are on US servers. Also, I dedicate most of my time to jungling, and in the jungle you don't have to last-hit creeps. One of the best players I know plays on the North American server with the same ping I do (he's Serbian, I'm Polish) and he pwns with AD carries (and that would be Jaje)

The outer border of my tinychat isn't visible in the box. I can' type due to this.

Anyone have any ideas?

I didn't really notice a difference between Europe and US, and I live in Finland. Anyway, number one thing for new guys to know.. The beginning is always rough. You will die, alot. Just don't let that get you down, you'll figure it out soon enough smile

Well, dying a lot is not something that bothers me overly much. Playing with friends is good though, so I guess I'll start out on the NA server.

Download's started. smile

Thanks a lot for the tips so far everyone.

After a bit of practice, I probably learned just enough to be an embarrassment for whoever groups up with me. Still, if anyone feels like it, I'd be happy give it a try.

I registered as Alindu and sent friend requests to the players Deceptus mentioned and if anyone wants to add me, please feel free to. Hopefully until soon. smile

I would recommend Ryze as a great starter character. You are basically required to build him tanky, but he is an AP caster. He only costs 450 IP as well.

I oddly enough have less ping when I play on european servers, even though I live in New Jersey...
