Here's Riot's statement on the server issues during Game 3 of the final: http://na.leagueoflegends.com/board/show...st13229588
Apparently spectator mode bugged everything out . And they're looking into a pause feature. What a novel idea! I'm sure it will be coming soon.

I would think that extremely basic features of online gameplay, like replays and a spectator mode, all of which were promised 18 months ago, would be a high priority for Riot. We were told for over a year that replays were "impossible" to create, and then a tiny group of amateur programmers with no access to the source code made an unofficial replay client with about 80% functionality. If amateurs can create a replay system in their spare time, it should be trivial for Riot to do the same.
The reaction from the community on support nerfs has been somewhere between "divisive" and "extremely unpopular" but hey, Riot doesn't give a crap! Guess we're getting them anyway. This will do nothing to change the "passive gameplay" style and will have the effect of murdering three champs: Taric, Sona, and especially Soraka, who now falls into Evelynn-level uselessness. So now instead of having 5 viable supports like we saw at Gamescon, we have 2 viable supports: Alistar and Janna. Expect to see these two get massive amounts of play, because they appear to have been left untouched in the patch.
That's some serious nice work there, Riot...

If you've been promising it to your playerbase for the last year, then yes it is, simply from a trust perspective if nothing else.
And I largely agree with sunrise's excellent summary.

My favorite part out of all the support nerfs is how Karma is completely ignored - no buffs or nerfs; she's probably the champ I've seen the least. With these nerfs, she might have the strongest heal now though

Nerfing support doesn't seem to make much sense, better to nerf the solos with too much sustainability

That would make duo lane much stronger (since the healing would be more valuable), and could make the early game more passive since people would be more nervous about being killed.
Personally I think Riot just finds stuff that needs to be changed just to keep the game fresh for people- by changing the metagame every so often people won't get bored of the game as fast.

I would really like spectator mode to be out but from a business point of view putting staff onto Dominion makes sense. Dota 2 is coming out as well as Blizzards version of Dota, Blizzard's game is aiming at being more accessible which will directly threaten Lol. In this environment going for a new mode that is present in other Dota type game will help them stand out a bit more.
Also although I think a lot of what Sunrise said is on the money, you can't say they are hiring artists over programmers. The 'now hiring' section on Riot's website always features technical people like programmers and engineers. I think they are just finding that is easier to find artists etc than technical people. Just as an example of technical people that they are trying to hire:
