Mistake by Austria not to try and save that forward army in Ukraine.

I think France might have to take Munich so he can build F Bre this turn. Otherwise England will build another F Lvp with his build from Sweden, which will allow him to force the Mid Atlantic next fall.

If I'm Austria, I might not take France's centers right now, since that runs the risk of being the "last to screw" France. Right now France is mad at England and so is focusing his armies there, but if Austria attacks he may switch the other way (to defend against Austria)

I'm going to have to go back through what France has said because even Tunis is only 17 for Austria. He'd need to pick up Stp (unlikely), Mun or Ber (possible) or Mar (also possible)

It might anger France but Austria can only get centers from France right now. If Russia gets lucky we might see a nice comeback smile

Austria is going to order A nap-rom to cut support. this way he'll get at least 2 centres and probably goes for Tunis as well, so he'll get 3 centres and I'll delete the two Italian armies and probably the Bur army, stopping England from moving Hol-ruh later on. This will put Austria up to 14 centres. They need warsaw, Mos and sev to get to 17, and he'll just steamroll through germany, or he might just take marseille and roll on through to Portugal.

And these were England's pre-move thoughts

Quote:F08:

Easy moves first:

F Stp H

F IRI S F Lon - Eng

F Lon - Eng

F Nth S F Bel

A Hol S F Bel

F Bel S F Lon - Eng (why not?)

So, France has screwed himself out of Italy/Tun with how he’s been moving. He’s guaranteed to lose Ven this year, and may start to lose ground against the Austrian fleets, as well. (Tyr S Tri – Ven + Nap – Rom wrecks Ven for sure, and leaves F Tri open as a build. Ion - Tys starts to twist the knife).

Therefore, Austria’s path to 18 centers just got a LOT easier in the west; he can be at Mar/Tun in NO TIME. This means that I need Russia to continue holding on. So, I have no choice but to do:

F Kie H (PLEASE GERMANY DO BER S MUN AND MUN S BER AGAIN; if it was A Kie, then A Kie S A Hol – Ruh would be obvious, but oh well.)

F Bal - Pru

F Swe - Bal

Why? Well, this means I can guarantee Ber in S09 (and France is going to start losing ground up north, as well, with SCs disappearing left and right). So there are tactical advantages to doing that. I’d love the extra build, but gaining ground against France and Germany is at least as important. And Austria needs to take as long as possible in getting to 17 or 18 SC.

Russia: Army Sevastopol -> Moscow.

Ownership of supply centers:

Austria: Ankara, Budapest, Bulgaria, Constantinople, Greece, Naples, Rome,
Rumania, Serbia, Sevastopol, Smyrna, Trieste, Tunis, Venice,
Vienna.
England: Belgium, Denmark, Edinburgh, Holland, Kiel, Liverpool, London,
Norway, St Petersburg.
France: Brest, Marseilles, Paris, Portugal, Spain.
Germany: Berlin, Munich.
Russia: Moscow, Sweden, Warsaw.

Austria: 15 Supply centers, 9 Units: Builds 6 units.
England: 9 Supply centers, 9 Units: Builds 0 units.
France: 5 Supply centers, 8 Units: Removes 3 units.
Germany: 2 Supply centers, 2 Units: Builds 0 units.
Russia: 3 Supply centers, 4 Units: Removes 1 unit.

Should be interesting to see what England does here. France is right that Austria can definitely solo here. That's the problem with no-press - it gets a lot harder to coordinate these stop the leader alliances

Thoughts from Russia

Quote:LOL, 6 builds for Austria.

I really must try and remember that an army can't cut the support of
an attack against itself.

Also England apparently does not realize that they need to occupy
Sweden during fall...

Hurry up and guess who I am, I distinctly hear corpulent female
singing from afar. Hint: My play has been in keeping with my handle.

From here, it sure looks like France has decided to throw the game to Austria to spite England.

You have to, especially in no-press. France certainly can't just let England stab him and take his centers, while he (France) continues to work against Austria.

The interesting question will be what will England do. In a press game, he could try and patch things with France, and he'll probably try to do that here, but it's just a lot harder and Austria doesn't need a lot of time before he solos.
