TT is a little guarded, but nothing seems too out of sorts.
Quote:Hey Commodore,
I was surprised to meet someone so early but c'est le vie! It certainly seems like Bob has given us an interesting world to explore! I have yet to meet anyone else out there at this moment in time, my warrior is taking a more leisurely stroll around the countryside right now.
I see no need for us to agree to a NAP right now given that you found me with a scout and as such cannot cause me any harm right now, along with the sheer folly of us souring relations so early for no reward! I would ask you, as a sign of good faith, to send your scout away from my borders now that you have discovered my location. Heading in a general W - SW direction would serve you best from your current position.
I look forward to further contact where hopefully we can begin a mutually beneficial relationship.

I nodded and moved on.

Hey TT,
Joe is cheerfully bumbling in a generally westward fashion. I'll call out any animals or barbs I see, Monarch means they're at least worth noticing. You had a warrior start? That's weird. In any case, I'll direct anyone coming east to meet where you'd like them to.
Cheers,
-Commodore

Wait does the HRE start with Hunting? I just gave the starting units from memory after I deleted and moved them from their initial locations.

Bob, what techs did TT start with? If you only edited units by hand, techs should be unaffected?

Everyone should have the correct starting techs, but people got moved around at the start, which involved deleting the settler + starting unit and replacing them after the map was finished. If HRE started with a scout, I must have forgotten and just assumed they had a warrior when I edited their units back in.

Phew, okay, that's fine. I've made similar mistakes before (Combat I warriors in PBEM 23, I'm looking at you), not a huge deal if TT had a warrior. The techs were bigger, but if they're the same as usual then C&D can roll as normal and no issue.
Y'know, it sure would help you and other lurkers if TT actually, y'know, made a spoiler thread.

Small thing, but your scout showed up exactly when he should have. Interestingly, you're the only one with a scout. Unless he pushes his next warrior straight North (exposing the cap to possible barbs) you could possibly settle that rich center before he even realized it was there. An aggresive play, but you already tagged TT as a somewhat non-aggresive neighbor.

No kidding. Bug him about that, would you?
I do enjoy your increasingly cynical commentary about the map, though =) You know, back in my day people would literally kill for a chance to settle near a dry, jungled rice tile!

You think that's cynical? He hasn't even gotten started.
And anyway, this map has already present very tough choices, with that supercharged city on the N/S mirror line, and NOTHING comparable for a 2nd city... I can't wait to see what the E/W line looks like.

It's true, although I'm not going to pink-dot the place without road support. One annoying thing about delaying AH (not disagreeing that BW is more important) if that my big stick requires horses, so if I settle my first city before I see horses, my third has to go for them.
Conversely, TT's got cheap settlers and all the reason in the world to spam out cities. If he gets the the Gold Valley first, I'm going to shrug, settle a good production site, and chop out a billion keshiks to take it.
