I think Gaspar meant the last 24h of the ingame day 1, or the 2nd real life day of the ingame day 1, which is usually more chaotic. I don't think he meant the ingame day 2.

Ever consider that the wolves mostly ignored your post? Most players barely even responded to it. In fact, if you're a villager, the logical thing for the wolves to do would be to wait and see what would happen and not kick up a stir. I mean, for such a big "gambit" you had it up for a grand total of like 8 hours. Several players hadnt even checked in yet I believe. All it did was kick off the zakalwe show where zakalwe ran around flinging accusations against everyone who'd posted lol. Come on, you know as well as me that wolves love it when that kind of nonsense happens.

For example, let's throw out a few names. Mr Nice Guy, Sareln, Injera. All those guys totally ignored your post, which is exactly what a smart werewolf would do. I'm not saying all three of those guys are werewolves, but they sure get bumped up the list a notch or two to me.

Well good to see a bit of chatter here. A few more Western Hemisphere players in the game certainly helps make this a bit more feisty at night than our usual game of EuroWolf. lol

The first part of Roland's post, let me just say I'm not sure we've agreed on much in these games despite getting along well. I don't see a lot of change in that barometer with your accusations here.

Roland Wrote:Funny how you're the only one who thinks I let off zakalwe too easily, especially when thus far you've contributed virtually nothing? Hell, I've been trying to be restrained a bit this game (because, as was noted, I do tend to fly off the handle a wee bit easily), and no sooner do I post my initial response to zakalwe than I get at least two people saying I "overreacted"! So, maybe I took that to heart a bit, and am trying to pull myself back just a tad? Or how about the simplest answer: his reply was direct, to the point, and succinct - not at all verbose like yours. I asked for explanation, he gave one, and in my mind it left no room for alternate interpretation. He was pressing me to see how I'd react.... which may be what you're doing, now that I think about it....

So yeah, before I derail on another tangent... :neenernee I did say you were the reason I signed up for this, so I suppose I should take your accusations on the chin with a bit of humor, yes? Anyway, reading your post (for about the third time now) I'm seeing a lot of fluff disguised as analyses. Maybe that's being overly harsh, but I honestly have a hard time gauging any real point to what you were trying to say... except, once again, history comes to mind, and maybe that's exactly what you're trying to do here - stir the pot. Still, in the past I've at least been able to see some sort of point you were trying to make. I can't seem to do that right now, so call it piquing my interest at the least.

I have to say, if you want anything more than me quoting people, telling you what I think about what they said and offering a possible lynch vote as substance, you're going to be sorely disappointed. I know I have a reputation as prescient (or a cheater, depending on who you ask, I suppose) but its a *lot* easier to figure out what's going on in diplo in a 5-person PBEM than to pick out 4 wolves in 24 hours when a third of the players have barely engaged. While I enjoy playing villager a lot more, I'm solid and reasonable, not magic. As soon as I stumble upon something more substantive, you'll be tied for 1st to know with 15 other people. wink

Quote:Lastly, though, I have to address your parting words.

First of all, there is much more to be said. We still haven't heard jack from Serdoa, Sareln (excusable to a point), Jkaen (to be completely expected), and probably a couple others I'm forgetting. I'll echo whoever said there is far too little discussion going on, and add that despite what zakalwe may think of uberfish's ploy it did do one thing very well - generate discussion, which is no doubt part of what he was going for. Then things got sidetracked into arguing over whether he was a 'Wolf or a Villager, and then over who else might be a 'Wolf or a Villager based on their stance on the former, and then it all just died off. It just feels too quiet to me.

Secondly, how do you know Day 2 is going to be chaotic? If anything, I should think Day 1 is usually the most chaotic (perhaps depending on one's perspective of "chaos"), but why should Day 2 be "sure to be chaotic"? Is there something you're not telling us? I'm not usually one to put much stock in the idea of "obvious slip-ups" (if it's too good to be true, it must be, and all that), but I have to say I found the comment a little odd.

Finally, you talk about wanting more discussion and then park your vote on the safest bet out there? I mean, granted we really do need to get MNG talking, so I can understand wanting to exert a little pressure, but to say it's because he's the only one with any momentum? Huh? Unless I'm mistaken, zakalwe was still pretty high on the lynch tally, and a few other names are starting to pop up as well. Maybe I'm reading too much into things, but it just seems to me the only "momentum" behind MNG is the fact that he's been dead silent, and his initial post seemed to be pretty stock MNG joking (although it certainly pushes the boundaries at that, even).

First, as far as the whole Day 2 thing - Ichabod understood me here:

Ichabod Wrote:I think Gaspar meant the last 24h of the ingame day 1, or the 2nd real life day of the ingame day 1, which is usually more chaotic. I don't think he meant the ingame day 2.

Secondly, I don't think MNG is a safe place to park a vote - I think he's not yet contributed anything and of my early suspects is as good an option as anything.

Thirdly, re: zak, honestly - he's not long for this game if he's a villager. Without a seer the "kill best villagers" strategy makes a lot more sense and I know firsthand he's unbelievably frustrating to play against as a wolf. If he's still alive Day 3-ish, I'd say the likelihood of him being a wolf increases 1000-fold. So until I see him do something decidedly out of the ordinary, I'm going to let him pull everyone's chain and see what I can glean from the fallout. Plus I rather like him outside of WW games, so I'm hoping he'll annoy me less on the same side. If he turns out to be a wolf, well there's always next game. But one way or another, I don't think it will take long to be sure about him.

scooter Wrote:Ever consider that the wolves mostly ignored your post?

I had the same thought. If I was a wolf I'd have hid behind the noise and not posted at all. So I do think players who ignored the gambit totally raise suspicion. Still, as someone (Erebus?) said, we'll know more when we know uberfish's alignment. He's the only player (maybe scooter as well, though I don't have a read on him yet - scooter's wolf-o-meter is directly correlated to how much he annoys me. If I want to punch him in the face, he's a wolf) that I think would try this sort of ploy regardless of alignment. Still, I give him credit for stirring conversation.

yikes Multiple text walls! It's been a while since we've seen them wandering about the playing field.

Gaspar Wrote:scooter's wolf-o-meter is directly correlated to how much he annoys me. If I want to punch him in the face, he's a wolf).

How true...

I haven't really seen anything in particular that makes me think wolf. Except possibly Uberfish. Because he's the type of guy to be a wolf and try that type of ploy. But I'm not really sure. I'm just not moving my vote because I don't really have any where else to put it and Uber is actually the most suspicious to me. Maybe that's because if I were a wolf I could see myself doing it. It's the equivalent of a Civ4 ancient age rush. Either it sets you up for the win or kills you.

In any case we're ignoring the most important thing today. Elect me as Mayor! thumbsup

Probably my last post for the night unless something else pops up, but it jumped out at me while doing the tally. Tomorrow is going to be ridiculous. There's virtually no chance zakalwe gets lynched, so there's probably 2-3 votes likely to move. All 3 MNG voters are classic vote jumpers, so that's unlikely to hold much either. Then we have 9 votes either sitting on someone solo or not yet cast.

Why do I bring this up? Well, should be a good chance to look for swings. Surely at least one or two wolves currently have votes on them, since 10 people have votes on them at the moment. While I don't think the wolves would be so brazen at to use their double vote today, depending on how experienced they are, we could definitely see some wild swings. Should be worth looking at things like followers and such. I'll be occupied for much of the day tomorrow, but I'll find time to at least read and cast quick aspersions on smoke breaks. Probably won't see another wall of text until tomorrow, however. wink

Bah, forgot to put this in the last post and stupid no editing rule.

I find it quite peculiar that several of us have noted the importance of the mayoral race and yet 6 people haven't voted and the votes that do exist have barely moved in days. While I am running, and if elected I will serve, I can't imagine anyone not being interested in the outcome of the race given that we have no surefire way to ascertain the mayor's alignment short of waiting for them to die. So those of you who've yet to weigh in on the mayoral race - why haven't you?

In particular I don't think we've even heard it mentioned by uberfish or scooter. (Could be wrong there, I just thought of this as a topic worth considering.)

Howdy, nice to see you all smile I have 7 responses that I've prepared as I read through the thread. I'll post those shortly. But first... "why I haven't posted yet": As anyone who knows me knows, I work long days in the pacific time zone, and then spend the evenings with my family. Anyone who followed my failed PBEM 19 attempt knows that on work days, I typically am online and make posts around this time. So... I fall in the category of "missing the uberfish drama because of real life".

As for my first post, there are three players whose werewolf styles I can probably read better than the rest: Gaspar, Roland, and Rowain. (I've read a lot of Gaspar in and out of WW, and paid lots of attention when I was on a team with the other two). Of the three, Gaspar and Rowain will get people to vote for them pretty easily, so I figured why not see who follows me onto one or the other votes for Roland? I didn't get a ton of information out of that particularly, but I did see that people more or less ignored who I double voted for in favor of focusing on the fact that I double voted. That, coupled with Roland's unmistakable wall of texts, makes me believe that he must be innocent. So for now, and until I submit my other 7 responses from the day's posts, I'll move my lynch vote to no vote.
