The claim that Elo rating is pure luck...The only person in our group who saw that happen was sunrise, and I think he would agree that he made some mistakes in starting out ranked play. I definitely don't think the system is pure luck. I think the main factors in my low elo are (in no particular order): 1) Being less skilled than the average RB player (not 700elo less skilled, but some, so the range of possible elo is already shifted down) 2) Playing ranked as soon as I hit 30, and in solo queue or duo queue with people with much higher elo than me. I blame Riot for not introducing unranked draft mode, but it was still my decision. 3) Playing an in-game meta based around 1250-1450 5-man games, and ends up being too cautious/non-pushy for low elo. 4) Bad luck. If there are 20 regular RB LoL players it's to be expected for one of us to have luck 2 standard deviations below the mean, just like one person might get lucky the other way and have a better elo than deserved. It will be interesting how things play out after the soft elo reset.
So have you guys seen that its possible to play 6v6 Twisted treeline? It looks pretty fun, I wanna try it.

Also can't pick the Dominion summoner spells or it will crash.
Don't know if people had seen this : http://www.reddit.com/r/leagueoflegends/...m_changer/
Someone built a recommended item changer after riot changed the file formats so that patches wouldn't break the program. It has a nice interface and you can put whatever items you want in including consumables. In setting it up I've discovered I build Triforce, Wriggle's, Force of Nature and Frozen Heart a lot
I finally had the chance to watch "Sullla's & Varis' road to gold" and it was very enjoyable. During the last game I noticed that the skill level was actually surprisingly high compared to the earlier games and at least 8 of the 10 players played quite well or at least had some good plays. Additionally, nobody really fed needlessly like you see in those level 15 games.
The only thing that seems to be independent of skill level is the willingness of players to blame anyone else for any negative event in the game. It's interesting how people skills are an asset to a solo queue player that wants to rise in rank. |
