WW8: Madness in Outer Space (game thread - players only)

Well that happened quickly... so much for worrying about the day dragging on to the weekend...

I don't really get this at all. Most of the initial votes on Winston were tentative/pressure votes anyway. Did anyone even give a reason to suspect Winston outside of just spreading "pressure" around?

That DID happen fast. I put vote #4 on him just because my sole vote on Sareln wasn't doing anything productive and his replies seemed too terse, and then when I next looked at the thread he had two more votes on him & was gone. I think calling Sareln and Serdoa (and I guess the rest of us who voted for Winston) morons is a bit strong. Voting off someone just to end the day early is a poor strategy, but it's not like any of us had clear data proving the guilt of anyone else. Although it would have been good to at least keep him around at 4 or 5 votes long enough for him to post more or use his ability.

So. In the end the lynch happened within 36 hours on the first day.

Rowain has been reading a lot into tiny leads, and I found that somewhat counterproductive. But you're probably right that the fact that he's actively trying to shift pressure around makes his innocence seem a little more likely, even if I disagree with his methods.

As for Winston, I also think calling the people who voted for him morons is a bit harsh. But hey, this is WW, anyone who hangs an innocent is a moron lol In the end, we rolled a d11 and it came up wrong. Should we expect to find a higher or lower proportion of scum among the [strike]morons[/strike] outstanding gentlemen who voted for him? :neenernee

Now that was surprising fast. And a very interesting ability Winston got there. Going from the wording of his role I guess that there is at least one other with a wounding-capability.

Sad that he didn't get a chance to defend himself after Sareln put him up to 5. Although I do, in genereal, find the one putting the 5th vote far more suspicious than the killer I would like to learn Serdoa's reasons why he shot so fast.

The first four voters are definitely not morons. And I apologize for the name-calling, Sareln and Serdoa. You may not be morons, but your actions (well, at least Serdoa's) were needlessly rash.

Yes, sorry about that.

Indeed a brilliant post, as expected. smile Sorry that I wasn't in the mood to comment last night.

For me the most galling thing is that Serdoa's actions don't even produce conclusive evidence, as his actions are in character. After all, we're talking about the epitomal trigger-happy vigilante. It shouldn't have come as a surprise to us that he would kill someone at the first chance he gets. Still, I don't know if we can give him a pass on this one. It could easily be "SCUM would never do that" psychology. Serdoa knows he has the perfect cover.

As for Sareln, I have to laugh about me pressuring him for activity, instantly resulting in a pointless mislynch...
I have to run.

Indeed. If Winston had gotten a chance to defend himself, he could have simply punched Serdoa in the face, demonstrating his special ability (and feeling good doing it wink). I'm pretty sure I would have deemed this ability most likely to belong to a villager, not scum.

@Winston Sorry for putting the final vote on you.

As for my reasoning: Quite honestly, none. I simply thought that we would learn more from the reactions to a lynch then from putting pressure on people, as everyone will of course tell you "I am not scum".

No time to comment on those reactions now though, but the night is still long enough that I should be able when I get home from work to do that. One point though: Why would Winston have punched me novice? I mean, the 5th vote came from Sareln. Punching me would not make sense, as he would... was dead when I voted.

Yeah, a mistake on my end. Punching Sareln would have made sense. Although he could of course punch whoever he suspected the most, the point would just be to demonstrate his ability.

Then again I don't even suppose he should have felt under enough pressure to burn his ability, since noone gave any reason whatsoever for their Winston votes so they were hard to take seriously. The only reason I can remember right now is Bob's "he's cagey".
