OK, new turn finally. A lot going on, too. First, our warrior met the scout from Nospaceseven. They still have just two cities, however their capital is size 6! Interesting that we've chosen such radically different approaches.
Also, see the barb culture in the northwest? That barb city just spawned. I think that's really good for us. First, it means we don't have to worry about wandering barbs from there for a while. Also, we can farm it later to get a 10XP unit for the heroic epic. And it's in a decent location, so we might even want to keep the city and save a settler. We could even culture flip it, if we want.
Hercules finished the corn farm, and our gold city (Long Goodbye) finished its workboat, so our crop yield went up a lot. Demos are still bad, but that's OK since we're just focusing on the land grab, for now.
I set Hercules to making a settler, and the gold city to making an ikhanda so it can grow.

Here's a question- do we settle directly on the elephants like we planned, or 1W to grab that second crab? Having 2 crabs would be nice, and it would grab more land, but we'd lose one starting hammer and it would be tougher to defend. It also wouldn't be able to work the pigs- although those have to wait for iron working anyway.

You could also squeeze in another city above the pigs if we moved it 1 tile west. But that would give a 2-city front for Fierce.
I think we go with on the elephants. Remember that we get a 2 hammer capital for settling on the elephants. Helpful for getting the city up and running.
I really wish that barb city had spawned 1 tile south... Unless we can make it fit in a good dotmap, I think we should farm it for exp and then raze/replace it.

Yeah you're probably right. We're already stretching to get the elephants, no sense provoking Fierce into attacking us with his ridiculous early army. And it'll set up a nice front where we can choose or 3 different cities to attack, but he can only attack one. And, we can still get an extra city in the east if we settle on top of the stone.

Played another turn. NoSpaceSeven have founded another city. The current city count is:
Us: 3
NoSpaceSeven 3
Mackoti: 3
Fierce: 2
Yuris: 2
Sian: ? (no contact yet)
The copper mine finished, so I switched the capital to work that, to get an extra commerce while it finishes the settler. Otherwise, not much going on.
New Demos: first in GNP! But only tied, and that's while working pottery with 2 prereqs and 100% science. And someone else (must be NSS) has almost 20 times our population.

Another turn this morning. Fierce had moved up an axe next to our western warrior
so I retreated him to the north[strike]west[/strike]east. The other warrior is waiting in spot, keeping the sentry net whole and flexible. If he pushes that axe forward farther we may have to think about settling elsewhere and then bringing Hercules' settler south when we have an axe.
I wasn't too sure what to do with the worker turns. The one who just finished his copper mine, he moved onto the forested hill south of Raw Deal in order to chop out an axe; I guessed speeding that along took priority. The worker on the gold simply roaded. We don't need the gold for a while, but it was really awkward getting him back without the road.

got the turn back already! Pottery and settler are done, researching Iron Working now. Fierce didn't advance his axe, so i went ahead and moved up our settler. The axe will finish in two turns, so the city will be defended just by the warriors for 3 turns.
NSS moved their scout back up... I wonder if we can nail it with an impi.

So we're working copper & cow in the capital? Makes sense to get the axe down there ASAP. What's the plan post-axe? How about a chariot while growing to 3 and then a worker to cottage those flood plains.

Yeah, I wanted to get the axe out immediately. After that I was thinking of doing another axe and then an impi, while working the rice, just to make sure Fierce doesn't attack. We haven't connected the horses yet (I started building a road towards the NW city site, instead) so no chariots. But after that, yeah we'll need another worker.
I'm really excited about this game. If we can grab both of these jungle sites, we'll be sitting in a really strong position .
