Occasional mapmaker ![]() the save I lost one gaurdsman. Almost leveled the white mage. Um ya we don't need to kill the two trolls that are in the middle. The path diverges and we will have sight on the entire thing once the party on the right gets further forward. PS. I set off like 10 earthquakes during my turn and I never saw any of the lava things expand
OK, got the turnset played, not a whole lot happened.
Turn 16 - Moving units northward, but taking time to cluster together with the healers and get everyone back to full health. Fair number of wounded units right now. - Try to move the guardsman near the tough trolls away from them, but he is slower than they are so this may be a problem. - IBT the two level three trolls chase our guardsman, who takes heavy damage. ![]() - A brown ogre appears from the north, looks like we have found the next enemy. Turn 17 - I send Delfador to help (or avenge, if necessary) the wounded guardsman. - More units moving north, avoiding lava (which has grown a couple times during my turnset, it is definitely happening). - Healers getting healed this turn, by villages or by grouping them. Li'sar finally back to almost full health as well. - Konrad softens up the ogre with his ranged attack. - IBT the ogre goes after a dwarf fighter. The level 3 trolls attack but only one can reach us, and he missed both times. ![]() Turn 18 - Delfador hits the level 3 troll 4-for-4 (this guy is as awesome as Kalenz is terrible ![]() - More units moving north, healing, etc. Move the ogre's target back south so others can help. - IBT the badly wounded troll does nothing, and he is blocking the other. ![]() - The ogre beats on our dwarf fighter some more, definitely need to rescue this guy next turn. - The brown king recruits a new level 2 goblin knight. The situation in the northwest: ![]() Move Delfador back and get someone in to kill that troll, who can also survive the other troll attacking afterwards. Or if he has enough movement, move Delfador back one tile, finish off the lead troll with someone else, then have Delfador blast the other troll? Kill the ogre, and prepare to move in on the brown king and his new goblin knight. Nothing going on in the east, just keep moving forward. And avoid the lava! It is expanding, I saw several tiles changed just in these three turns. The Save - Scepter of Fire T19
My turn again. Will get it tonight.
Hmmm.... looks like we've explored about 2/3 of the map and have around 40% of the available turns left. It sounds like the order of the day is to just keep pushing forward.
Looks pretty good, haphazard1. And fire&ice. This is looking like a pretty solid performance - we lost a few lvl1 dwarfs, but leveled several others and are on track to get the scepter.

Things are going pretty well.
![]() We are moving steadily (if slowly) northward with the exploration. Lagging a bit in the east, and that is where Li'sar is, so hopefully we will get lucky and the scepter will be over there somewhere. Our gold is looking good, and our income very good. ![]() Just keep exploring, and killing enemies for XP, and we are on track for a very good result from this map. ![]()
I lost the Berserker exploring between T20 and T21. He grabbed a village with all his movement and then another of those L3 troll warriors ran up from the edge of sight range and dueled with him. Unfortunately, being a troll, he'll heal it all before we can finish him off, but I can say that the Berserker was doomed from the start (7-4 vs. 20-2, whatever the hit odds were), but he acquitted himself pretty well, I'd say: he managed to wear the Troll Warrior down to half health in the process.
I also unwittingly gambled our entire position on a pair of dice rolls when I put Li'Sar on point because, if she had dwarf resistances, she would have had enough health to tank two hits. Instead of taking 21 damage (strong) per hit like a dwarf would, she took 31 damage! Fortunately, the other one missed because of her 60% dodge rate on flat ground. The situation: ![]() Sadly, no sign of the scepter. We're running out of places to look, though... it's either in the NW or NE corners, it looks like. I'm e-mailing Mardoc the save again. ![]()
I was going to say "nice work", Ranamar, but maybe it should be "at least we survived".
![]() Those level 3 trolls can really dish out the damage. ![]() ![]() Too bad about the ulfserker. His quick trait was actually a liability here, because it put him out in front while exploring. Oh well. He survived longer than I expected, anyway. ![]() Time is starting to run low, but you are right that there are not too many fogged areas left. We need to keep pressing forwards. If the scepter is in the west, we may end up having to give it to Konrad after all. ![]()
Looks decent, at least. It's frustrating, we ought to be able to handle these enemies with ease, if we could concentrate our troops to do so - but of course we have to remain spread out and vulnerable to grab villages and search for the scepter.
At least we've got a big wad of cash and significant income ![]() ![]() Save received. Tomorrow's the earliest I can play it, though, and I can't guarantee availability then. I can forward it to Jkaen if you'd rather not wait on me.

I made sure of that. ![]() I have a tendency to use heroes to hold the line when I want our usual troops in reserve. Oh well. He survived longer than I expected, anyway. Yeah, I was really sad when he died. The problem is he was fast and therefore scouted well. (not quick, fast: he has one more base move than your average dwarf) Quote:Time is starting to run low, but you are right that there are not too many fogged areas left. We need to keep pressing forwards. If the scepter is in the west, we may end up having to give it to Konrad after all. If push comes to shove, we might be able to run Li'Sar all the way over to the NW, although it's true that I'm not sure about that. We should probably consider moving her toward the center of the map even if it slows her eventual arrival if it's on her side. |
