Well, my economy is currently waddling along, wheezing like an asthmatic octogenarian with emphysema in the high Andes. I cannot expand too heavily without Currency or the whole thing will crumble hard.
That being said, here's the current plan, with the purple dot perhaps taking priority if it can. Red dot is pie-in-the-sky, but it'd be my forward push location if I could snag it.
Thanks for the sympathy, novice, mackoti sure shatters those dreams, doesn't he?

A couple of notes about the above dot-map.
Orange Dot #3 is something to get up ASAP. Not only is it the critical canal port to get my inner-sea navy out to the ocean, but it's also one of the few cities that will be able to pay for itself very quickly, with a 2/1/4 fur camp, 5/0/2 clams, three 3/0/2 lakes, a 3/0/2 Oasis (shared often with #2), and that rarest of birds, a desert incense I actually have the food surplus to work. Production in the long term is a little weak, but in the short term that's a lot of forests to chop too.
Reddish-Brown Dot #6 is better than it looks, as the fish icon doesn't show up. It'll have the food to work all those plains hills as mines if I farm from the Oasis, which I like.
Pink and Greys dots might have their settling order swapped, depending on Gaspar's settlement speed. Pink is by far the stronger sight, with 5/1/0 deer for food, horses for production, and a ton of riverside for cottages.

Perhaps Orange 2, Pink 3.
On t65, Gaspar had a settler on your (reflected) orange location. Unless you push hard for the center, you won't even get pink. I know it'll hurt the economy, but you can make more money later.

Well, I wasn't kidding when I told Gaspar that anything he placed over the mirror line would be burned by keshiks. With his graphs in hand, I can now say I actually am seeing about a third of his whole military with the spear, two warriors, and two chariots visible. I ain't lettin' that crap get by.
Upon reflection, though, what's more a danger than pink going is Gaspar getting first dibs in the secret peak center, which should be very rich indeed. My galley, then, will drop off the current settlers and I'll whip/chop another pair. One will go via road to orange post-haste, while the other will join a worker on the galley to get purple drop settled post-haste.

Galley plan sounds good. Pedal to the metal till she's blowing smoke!

Hey mon, she be smokin'. Great beaker rate at 100%, but I won't be able to run at 100% but once every five turns or so.
And now, proudly in the "not making it worse" column, the lovely new Stone Island city of Mermaid. IC trade routes are this lady's reason for living, although with Moai she'll be a decent naval shipyard too.
I'm soooo far behind. Mackoti Oracle'd Civil Service, and Gaspar is way up on me too. Sigh, pity TT's paranoia made a economy tech path unfeasible.
At least one helpful kick is due in two turns. The Hindu shrine will be a big help that only gets bigger as markets come online once Currency is done. Now if I could also, you know, make missionaries to spread it around faster...
Gaspar's keeping his economy in much better order thanks to his Currency routes. He's still one ahead, although I'll pull even again next turn. Still no trade routes available.
Handy-dandy little micro stuff this turn, should have a canal city down next turn and its pasture will be online the turn after, just as Mermaid will need to switch on to the clams. Masses of workers are fun...although maybe part of my issue.
Ah well. Here's the demos, or "At Least I'm Not TT: The Numbers"

That's really bad. So why is Gaspar allowing this?

One small bit of analysis. With graphs from 400BC, the following can be computed:
GNP
Comm 78
Gasp 152
Twink 50
Mack 92
Crop
Comm 97
Gasp 115
Twink 98
Mack 114
MFG
Comm 39
Gasp 53
Twink 39
Mack 49
Now, none of this is particularly encouraging, except that Gaspar and Mackoti are (for now) neck and neck. Next time you get a chance, ask Gaspar: When's the war?!
