Talking about how terrible the players were in your last solo queue game, and how awful they are at picking champions, and so on and so on... It's exactly the same as telling stories about poker hands you lost, or talking about the bad beat you had in fantasy football.

Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

Caught a fun example on Rain Man's stream tonight. RM, as Teemo, is trying to escape at low health from two champions, and ditches into the bush. He has just enough time to stealth before Morgana face checks....

Lee Sin, who's play up to this point has been simply stellar [1], arrives late to the party, and decides to engage 1v2. This goes about as well as you could expect, with Teemo too low to contribute. As Lee Sin is on his last sliver of health, he makes one desperate attempt to escape....

By blinking to the stealthed Teemo. Pure poetry.

You're very clever, young man, very clever, but it's ELO Hell all the way up!

Did you guys watch the Fnatic vs SK IEM finals ? A bit onesided but once again it is great to see so many different champions from one final game to another. And I really liked Fnatic's Anivia and Ezreal picks in the last game and showing that you can still really dominate with them while everybody was expecting picks like Gragas and Caitlyn. smile

Well everyone hates me so might as well quit. I never really did feel accepted here. It was like I was the guy who everyone in the group tolerated just because it was the right thing to do, but really wanted him gone. And I tried so hard to fit in, too. :/ Thx Gustaran, the only guy who ever did anything good for me.

I caught the last game, was fun watching a hyper-aggressive team dominate.

Just avoid the skillshots if you aren't confident yet.

Healer. But don't play one in low level solo queue, you'll be frustrated by having to rely on your equally noobish teammates.

Quote:Should I try a lot of champs, or pick one and try to master him?

Both, there's usually a decent selection on free week

Quote:Should I start out by playing mainly against bots, or 'normal' games, or ranked?

Normal, it will try to match you up with players around your skill level

Quote:And then there's the metaquestion - what's the best strategy for gaining IP, and what should I spend them on?

Spread your playtime over the week for the first win of the day bonus and don't play 3v3 too much. Save for champions you like and the highest level runes.

Mardoc -- if you’re playing on the NA server there’s a bunch of us regularly playing in the evenings UK time (so afternoons US time). Our usernames are on the first page, if you want to add any of us... although the majority of us are level 30 (the highest level) by now, we are experienced at accommodating and training newbies. There are also a couple of players who aren’t 30 yet, so feel free to join us...

I disagree here. I recommend trying a champion at least once against bots before choosing him in a normal game. If you are trying to read and understand i.e. Lee Sin's quite extensive tooltips during a game, you will probably die before you even understand what your abilities do.
At the same time it helps tremendously if you have some idea of what items to build. When I started out I sometimes took 2-3 minutes at the shop during the game trying to figure out what to buy next.

Some people may disagree here, but I personally always found it annoying if players didn't know what their skills do when there is the possibility of testing that in a custom game or the coop vs AI mode. Or to put it in a different way: You will greatly benefit from some basic knowledge when playing someone who doesn't have a clue about what his champion does.
However, If you have watched numerous videos and know what different champions do and what items to build you can usually dive into normals right away.

I appreciate the offer, but I'm going to hold off for a few weeks until I'm confident in the basics, like remembering I have summoner spells, and whether it's a right click or a left click that actually makes a skill go off. There's not a whole lot you can advise me on while I'm still learning the interface.
