[Spoilers] Commodore as Washington of the Mongols

Ach, I didn't realize the population threshold was that high. I'll work on getting Mermaid up to the 10-pop threshold fast, then, albeit not until after I do the whip->overflow to Moai trick four or five more times to get the Stones up and running there. Thanks for the catch.

A turn occurred, during which I did stuff. I really hope someone is having issues with barbarians, as the failgold for the Great Wall could carry me to Currency the easy way. Meh, if not, then not. (See also illustrated: Missionaries: We need them for monies).

Gaspar appears to be chopping up a storm much like me, although I think he's a few hundred workers short of my absurd set. Why is my score so much higher, pray tell?

Demos are reasonably decent, although a ton of Stonehenge cities are pumping out a ton of culture to mess with that. That does remind me, I have so many monuments I'm probably a shoo-in for the SoZ. Might want to build it for cultural defense in Sphinx.

That's once I get ivory, of course. I want to get a couple cities going down here as soon as possible, but the canal needs IW and Calendar, whereas the western place is going to just wait for filler-time. Camp going up in a couple turns.

All-in-all, going well ish.

Time for a brief update, I've been playing on this vacation, just haven't had a lot of reporting time. First off, founded just one more city but it's a nice one:

Nothing amazing has been happening in the world, it's been all quiet on the western and southern fronts, "ohms" aside.

I've had three very definite divisions of my attention, the wild and woolly west, where I'm roading and also training up keshiks on barbarians. Post-coinage, this is all getting filled in fast.

Then there's the Midwest, where I'm working hard on infra and pushing my worker force around in a complex and fun logistics train that probably is really dull to hear about.

Finally, my core is still getting improved and growing, in the most essential way possible, with every grassland tile remaining getting a cottage, trying to grow hamlets and villages quickly. My economy is still lagging, but thanks the this slightly over-enthused cottage spam I'm doing okay.

If I have a chance at all it will be to beeline Civil Service after Calendar and IW to get this core land up to 100%, I need a strong and big cottage economy to compete with Mackoti's early-game superior Representation specialists.

Gotcha. This was after the galley's move this turn, and I moved a Keshik on and a worker off afterwards. So turn after next, I sit on the clam nets, send over the keshik, load a worker, and keep on going around.

Focusing on the city as just a canal is doing it a grave disservice, however. I've chopped in the granary and am about to chop in the lighthouse to give it one 5-food tile and three and a shared 3-food tiles...not to mention the strong fur commerce tile, which will have the city paying for itself the turn borders pop. Plus, it's coastal. shhh

And on the subject of paying for itself...Manticore's timed to grow in two turns, getting a +1 happy Hindu temple at the perfect time. Science getting turned on next to 1-turn Currency, and I'll build a market for +2 happy, which will enable me to work a healthy 9 cottages and make foodhammer things (like a filler to grow on the lake tiles eastward).

I have a good picture for you right here:

Yep, I jogged over to Masonry to try a little gambit that pays off about as well as Currency. Hippogriff's been deforested, overflow manipulated, and mined hard to get this little beauty. I was two hammers short, so I decided to take a little hunger hit and build it this turn.

Before: alright

After! :2dance:

I need to find some Marble, I think the ToA just became worth it after Moai in my stone island. Need to find more lonely islands too...

Next up, I'm sure, diplomatic fallout.

Congrats on the Great Lighthouse! How many turns do you think Maoi will take you to build?

Thanks! It'll take a little while, hard to say exactly as it'll be mostly whip overflow to make them. I need to get missionary techs to enable it to do the lovely 1-turn missionary, then 2-pop whip for 20 overflow trick. If I don't snag the ToA I won't be crying.

Yeah, it'd be downright scary were it not for the last dozen turns all being just limping and more limping.
