Apparently Darrell (playing for Ilios) managed to kill both horses. Bah! Why they have to be more like the Light Brigade and less like Brave Sir Robin...

For more detail, because he asked - the horse to the N of Ygg moved 1S, found the axe guarding Ygg. I brought in a horse from Dagger, wounded the axe, then cleaned up with the relatively fresh horse. He was going to stay put and pillage (which should have prevented Darrellios from counterattacking if I withdrew afterward), but I saw the unguarded workers 2S, and grabbed them. Apparently capturing workers does not count as an attack, when they're unguarded.

Still, 130 hammers for 80 is a decent trade, and hopefully I at least bought some time. Once we have trebs on the scene, we can take that axe stack off that hill on my border.

Thanks. I had forgotten that last part, everything now makes a lot more sense.

Good game, the map was a bit small and we got some pretty amazing hut luck. Of course, yours wasn't exactly bad until the Pyre smile. I think unfortunately we didn't get to stress the mod much, other than Mobility on the Catapults. I do take back many of the bad things I had to say about FIN, although bumping it up to 25% is a good decision.

Go sign up for the peaceful game now, you guys know how to keep a turn moving thumbsup.

I think this was actually a mistake. As you can see in our thread, a Market and running a Merchant specialist gave us lots of gold to play around with.

Dang, that was quick. Not like there was a lot we could do against 17+ axes, though.

I'm thinking it's the other way around. Grabbing Kilmorph before Construction was our mistake; if we'd had 4-5 Trebuchets on hand when you came knocking, it might have been a different story. Maybe festivals instead of Kilmorph would have worked better. But our basic problem was starting full-blown military too late.

I'm just too much of a builder, it seems. Which is why:

It would have to start and fill while I'm on vacation. banghead Well...maybe I can play in the next one.

So, join me, Uber and Darrell in the next EiB game. And it's a builder game too! smile

Honestly, getting festivals early wouldn't probably matter. What won you the game ( apart from me screwing up with tile count and leaving horses in the city banghead ) was Masonry pop on t0 and settled GProphet on t3. That's what - 400 extra gold and over 100 extra hammers? Which neatly translates to 20 axes difference in army size on t55. Sure, we might be able to fend you off if we went for less economy and more army, but that would leave us hopelessly behind to be moped up with whatever t3 unit you'd decide to use.
