The "2t chop" sign actually finished the chop this turn, which will allow me to double whip the settler in So Fat (for the plains hill / stone / horse site). Really hoping there's a seafood over there (ideally 1E of the stone so no border pop needed)
I was going to send the So Ugly settler to that site, but I think now I will send that guy south to the ice hill / furs / deer / crab / copper site.

As you can see, I met Sian (his galley in my NE). I also apparently also have trade routes with Pindicator, though I have not met him. I sent him a real quick note when I got the save, and then afterwards, sent him this note
Quote:Okay
A bit more time now! First of all greetings. I don't know if you had already heard, but I just met Gaspadore the turn before. They said that they had previously met you, and that you were to their SW (they said they're to my SE). So if this map is toroidal, then you should be more or less directly north of me?
I'm happy to share any map information that you'd like or help you on the way to circumnavigation, if you're chasing that. We decided that with so many other civs with Fishing starts / water UBs that it was probably not going to happen for us.
If your galley is heading west, there is a path if you just continue west from your current spot. If you want to head south, as you can see my borders block your passage, but if you move NE-SE around the stone there is a chain of islands that will help you on your way.
Happy to exchange map screenshots or talk about the map if you'd like.

Okay then. So Dumb sim. Speaking of dumb, yo mama is so dumb, she whips without a granary....
It's currently T41, and So Dumb is at 12/14 food and 6/40 in its granary. Here's the options I see:
A1) Swap to workboat immediately, and whip it next turn. Whip granary ASAP
A2) Swap to workboat immediately, and whip it next turn. Whip granary as soon as it is not off an improved tile
B1) Whip the granary next turn at size 2. Whip workboat ASAP
B2) Whip the granary next turn at size 2. Whip workboat as soon as it's not an improved tile
C) Since the wheat will be improved next turn, wait till size 3 to whip a granary
D) Or wait till size 3 to whip a workboat.
Well... I couldn't bother to sim out everything but I think I'm going to go with C), and bring a workboat over from the capital. That seemed to work out pretty well in the sims but dang is there a lot of food there I need to settle some of these other cities so that I can borrow some of the food tiles.

Apparently we met Pindicator and he wrote us a note
Quote:Well howdy there Mr. Your Mom!
Looks like this random map has made us neighbors. I'd love to take this moment to send the warmest greetings of the Viking people. Don't worry, even if we are Viking we are by no means hostile. Frank -- that's FDR, but I just call him Frank -- has been telling them all about his soft-talking philosophy (but between you and me, I think they latch more on to the big stick idea). Anyway, they're really stand up guys once you get to know them. Why, last night around the campfire ol' Hraldir was doing his one man act about the time he pillaged a sea village and torched it to the ground. Hilarious stuff.
What do you think about working together toward some common goals? To start things off, I'd like to offer a 20 turn NAP. I'm also happy to share information about where other civs are located, so we can get to know where our future enemies' lands lie.
Well, as Frank is always telling me "Be sincere; be brief; be seated" so I'll wrap things up. (Sometimes that guy can get on my nerves. I mean, who died and made him president?) But I wanted to introduce myself to the new neighbors and offer my Viking best. If there's anything you need, just come on by and I'll set Frank right on it.
Looking forward to working with ya,
pindicator
P.S. I almost forgot! Our soothsayers tell me that congratulations are in order, that this new religion has landed on your shores. Well done, indeed!

So I chatted briefly with Pindicator. The stone island to our SW is the stone / horse island that he ALSO has to his NE. He'll be settling on the stone there this turn.

I DID NOT GET TO PLAY A TURN YESTERDAY!!!!!!!
Okay enough about that - save finally came back around. I moved the workboat near the stone / horse city and.....
Sweet fishy goodness!!!
Galley will move S-SE next turn and pick up the settler that was just whipped in So Ugly, and then move to the plains hill to found in 2t. Worker will also move there and start quarrying the stone.
Also you can see another horse to the north - I wonder if that's Sian's "stone / horse island". If so, he said he would be settling that next turn so we should see his borders shortly (his galley and mine are on the same tile).
I also have a settler ready to settle the furs / deer / copper / crabs spot in the south in 2t.

Been a bit since I updated. I founded my 4th and 5th cities over the past two turns (T43 and 44).
IMP Yuri just put his 4th city up here on T45, so I'm feeling good about that. Economy is pretty crappy, but I'm still going forward. As I read somewhere, "if you're not limping to Currency, you're not doing it right"
2 workers built in So Fat and So Ugly - I'll use those to camp the furs and otherwise improve the mainland. Workboats are on the way to net the seafood in So Dumb and LikeaPotatoChip
Other than that, things are going well. I think Gaspadore is about to circumnavigate, and I believe he just teched Mysticism (possibly on his way to Meditation). I haven't decided if I will go for Monotheism or Priesthood next.

Micro notes:
I think we can safely bulldoze that FP farm and turn it into a cottage. Early on, we needed the extra fpt to grow to size 4-5 quickly, but now that we're AT size 5, and can grow at +6fpt if it was a cottage...I think that's worth it. I think we'd want the grassland river cottage 2E of So Fat first, and then get the farm.
So Dumb's worker should probably chop to accelerate the lighthouse next. And this land is crappy.
Also, where is the WB coming from for Potato Chip? And how do we not have So Poor as a city name yet? And according to Fake Sean Connery, we need to have another city be a Mallard With A Cold (compress as needed to fit our # of characters).

Agreed - plan is to bulldoze that farm shortly here.
So Dumb will whip its lighthouse 4 which is in 2t I think.
The WB from Potato Chip is already on its way from the north (you can see it in the pic - it's 2NE of the crabs)
And those are good city names - I'll queue them up. Not sure when the next cities will come out though
