Astronaut without sin confounds press, invites trio to control civilization

Forgot to mention that Mackoti rushed the Mausoleum of Mausollos, probably in a border city towards Luddicator. This is good news, since we now have a very good shot at the Great Library, if we want it.

As you can see I decided to go for Civil Service before changing civics. None of our cities were really in urgent need of whipping, and the population will still be there two turns from now. We have a galleon coming out of Triton and a settler in Europa that could be part of the maiden voyage eastwards. The galley at Io could help ferry the settler over to North Island.

After ending turn I realized we could probably have researched Archery this turn and Civil Service the next, to get Archery sooner and to hide our research. Oh well.

Cool.

I think I prefer us to not have researched Archery; it gives mackoti one more turn warning of what we're researching but I don't think it matters. I think I'd rather put the beakers into something else - Literature or Theology.

What happened to plantationing the Sugar (and chopping the ivory)? You think a Farm for Tethys is too pressing?

I want to get the granary there chopped next turn, with the city ending at 4/14 food (working the Dyes). We can then borrow a food from Io and get Tethys growing asap.

We lose 2 food in Rhea and 2 food in Luna (EDIT: Actually 1, as I think we should work artists there on t80) by delaying the sugar and ivory, but I felt getting Tethys started faster was worth it.

OK, fair enough.

How about we grab the spare WC into the galley and move it into the path of Triton's galleon, and also move the WC from Titania onto it, so we have a decent exploratory land force?

Btw, getting $55 free (from Polynesian's razing) is pretty awesome. smile

My thoughts on cities in the next few turns:

Charon 4-whips forge, overflows into galleon.
Iapetus (no religion yet) whips galleon then builds wealth until religion comes in. Maybe 4-whips forge. (Gotta not put more hammers into it, to allow this.)
Europa builds WB. (They can cross oceans.)
Umbriel whips lighthouse ASAP.
Triton finishes galleon next turn then whips forge.
Titania 3-whips forge, then completes galleon.
Io refills some foodbox once in slavery to be able to grow back faster (probably working coast + the river mine), then 4-whips forge.
Ariel needs 50 culture, not sure what to do there, maybe build a monastery?
Titan gives away fish while building settler, maybe right after forge finishes.
Ganymede works engineer, builds axe (->mace).

Sounds good. What should we put on the Galleon from Iapetus? If we work copper and furs over fish and coast in Titan after the forge, we should be able to finish the settler in 2 turns (actually it will easily do so with Bureaucracy). So we could load the galleon with a war chariot and two settlers from the mainland? Or do we want a worker or missionary on board?

I like building work boat(s) in Europa - with some luck we'll find some seafood-based starter cities overseas and we can neglect workers on the first boatloads.

I guess we should load a worker if we can find one. We'll have another galleon soon that can bring the Titan settler.

We may have to watch out for barbarian galleys and warriors. Oh, and if we're lucky I guess there might be some barb cities out there!

I guess we can spare one of the workers on South Island.

Random observation: Sian is no longer jewish. huh

All right.

Huh, maybe he needed culture from another religion? Or maybe he misunderstands some game mechanics? (Or maybe it's a signal he doesn't like us as much?)

Btw we're now back to 9 hours apart (it's 10:23 for me now).

Argh. This reminds me of your opening post.

Mackoti started a golden age. Therefore it seems like he chopped or otherwise slow-built the Mausoleum instead.

His golden age is more MFG-focused than ours was. Makes sense; he doesn't have pyramids to make specialists as good.

As Novice pointed out to me, the island between Sian and Luddicator only has space for two cities. Strange.

Demos look fine. And we passed a thousand points this turn, whoo! Mackoti is in second, more than 300 points behind. Not that bulbing a bunch of stuff gives you a point lead or anything. wink IIRC we're also technically two eras ahead of everyone else. That's kinda cool. Of course Machinery/Optics/Philosophy from Medieval and Astronomy from the Rennaissance were all bulbed, but we've at least researched Civil Service and we'll go for Nationalism soon.
