By the way, I've subbed for Brian during quite a lot of turns. Almost 20, I'd say. So I've done my share of work to make this game keep its pace.

I think I'm going to scrap the Tower plan for now. I feel comfortable if the game lasts long enough we can bang the tower out faster than anyone else eventually.
So we'll sling Malevolent Designs. The question then becomes whether its better to save gold for cash-rushing or to research IW for Eidolons.
What say you, team?
I've got some dirt on my shoulder, can you brush it off for me?

In the absence of any analysis whatsoever, my inclination is save gold. Getting the Beasts and Mardero out almost immediately feels better than delaying everything a little bit.
Happy to go Iron Working after that, especially given our warrior squadron. Can't check right now, but presume they don't upgrade to Corpses?

You do give us the easy questions, don't you?
We don't have Smelting yet either, IIRC. So it's going to take a while and a lot of gold to get ourselves Iron - and we're not even guaranteed it's in our borders, it could be like Incense. On the other hand, Eidolons would actually stay around in a hypothetical 'post-war religion swap'. And they're darn good units, who'd also start with whatever we can give them from Priests.
I think I lean toward no, cash rush a bunch of Corpses and Ritualists instead. Reconsider the question if we manage to stop Krill - they'd be very handy for a counterattack, if we're alive to consider one, and for keeping RG from hitting us. And if we're in position to consider counterattacking, then we're in position to consider conquering our Iron source if it's not in our own borders.

No, they don't. And warriors don't use Iron, either, just Bronze.
On the other hand, once we're in a better position, warriors do upgrade to Champions .

Well, here's some analysis:
Smelting -> IW would take roughly 10T. (8T of research plus 2T of saving gold.)
I'm going to research Masonry -> Fanatacism. As there are 6T left on the Grimoire, may as well get the yield from the marble tile in play. We have just about enough gold to get there before saving for a while. Probably squeeze in Construction after that then shut it off for a while.
Chronic went into unhappiness with the loss of Silk from Acalostas' untimely demise. I looked around and nobody has anything to give us, so I'm sending an adept over to hook up an Enchantment node.
Here's our first shot of Krill's mage stack. Not sure how but that definitely has to die.
Finally, here's our military at EOT. Diseased Corpses: name-worthy? Probably not, but I suppose we could reprise jobbers? We definitely don't have remotely enough right now. We'll be in good shape in 7-8T. Will that be too late? If Nicolae's dead it doesn't matter, all those invisible units on our borders will make it impossible to defend.

For a slightly more serious take: we need a couple more Hawks, I think. And definitely to spam military of all sorts. We want to make sure we know at all times where those mages are or could be, and to be able to sweep in on them.
And...if you have the time, the best thing you could do for the war currently is to send Nicolae Hawk intelligence every turn. Which probably means an annotated screenshot. If he ever has an opportunity to slam his zombie stack into Krill's Mage stack, he needs to know about it. I'm pretty sure the turn order is us -> Nicolae -> Krill, so the info would still be relevant when received.
After seeing the ETA on Iron, I definitely still believe that it should wait. We might not even have our capital in 10 turns if we don't put the effort into army. What might be worth picking up, though, is Stirrups. Especially if Krill's leaving the Mages uncovered, a few horse archers would do a lot of good.

Agreed on hawk intel, I've been chatting with him before his turns. If we ever get an opportunity on Krill's mage stack, the turn order is in our favor there.
Agreed that a few Fyrdwell would be nice, but not sure when building a stable instead of another DC/Ritualist would be a good idea.
What I'd really like to do is research IW and Bowyers for some Iron Longbows. That's not going to happen in any reasonable amount of time, though.
