Argh, why people be suddenly using my favorite champ and poorly just 'cause they saw some other pro do it!

One thing that's stood out in recent weeks, is the increase in people playing Kassadin. Unfortunately I've yet to see one who doesn't lose their lane horribly. Sure he's weak before 6, but it feels like some people playing him don't realize they need to play safer before then.

Is anyone a regular Kassadin player and can explain a bit more about him ? There is neither a champion spotlight or video featuring him on Sullla's channel. Yet Elementz ranks him a tier 1 champion and I wonder why.

Especially the melee autoattack feels really weird to me and his "w" skill is strange as well, since I don't feel comfortable getting in the opponents face and hit people with autoattacks (his recommended items ingame are all standard ap caster stuff). huh

He's a great solo queue stomper and he's also very strong in arranged given proper teamcomps; he falls off late game but still assassinates and chases down people like a boss, gets fed, snowballs, does a ton of damage...

Chaox's Marathon's episode on Kassadin might be helpful.

I also happen to know that other top players like The Rain Man invest in a lot of tankiness; while The Rain Man gets a standard AP Caster page (magic pen reds, lots of AP/lvl elsewhere and flat AP quints), he runs 9/21/0; and I think xPeke plays Kassadin with tanky runes (mpen/healthregen/mres/healthregen I believe) and 9/0/21. It's just to make up for his tough laning phase.

The "w" skill seems to really be only there for 1v1 skirmishes early on and for pumping up your Force Pulse. And maybe it can be good if you use Lich Bane.

I've also heard that it makes it much easier to last hit under tower since the last rework of the skill.

One thing that Kassadin seems to do well is trade damage. Not only does he have his passive to negate some magic damage- but his q has fairly long range and if you time it right, prevents response from your target. As long as you arn't behind in levels you can followup with the e and bug out before you tske much damage. Laneing isn't about taking as little damage as possible- it's about making the other guy take more till you can just burst him down.

Kassadin's problem is the typical melee vs ranged matchup middle. Yes his Q is very nice vs other AP casters but as soon as thats used, he offers relatively little early on. If you're mid you can't really get denied too much in XP but you'll find it extremely difficult to keep up in farm.

He's currently overrated on Elementz tierlist because his laning is weak and his lategame isn't too strong once people get MR (particularly BV's). The main strength of Kassadin is levels 6-16 where he has his ult and can gank other lanes, he snowballs really hard if you get ahead but is borderline useless if you don't.

He's just a very risky pick, you can take a different AP that can lane easier and still be useful if you have a tough game. I'd much rather have an Akali on my team than Kassadin.

I think you just need to pick him when you know you can win the lane, but that's true for most champs I suppose.

Mechanics preview on Fizz was humorous. Nice to see people who are looking for abilities that are just plain fun. smile

I do kinda feel like it's from some random suggestion thread on the forums though...

How many of the existing champs can jump the shark?

Lol i was saving IP for Nocturne, but one look at the shark and i'm hoarding my IP for it.
