err. what?

Someone built Chicken Pizza in an Mp game? without stone?

Can't help but thinking this is a bad idea.

What are you talking about? Everyone knows it's the most awesome, most overpowered wonder ever. wink

Joking aside... well, I guess it's not quite as silly as what happened in PB4. For those who don't remember, in that game Luddite built Chichen Itza quite literally 1 turn before he got Rifling. (I'm still baffled as to why.)

Lewwyn is mailing this game in worse than I'm mailing in PBEM24.
I've got some dirt on my shoulder, can you brush it off for me?

He may have done it for fail gold, having built most of it in another city and hoping someone would build it so he could cash it in. Or maybe he wanted to feel safe for that one turn? lol

At least this time he's at war with a while to go before it's obsolete, so even if he would have been safer by using those hammers on troops instead of a defense modifier, it isn't a complete waste (unless no one attacks or is deterred because of it - hard for him to quantify the last part though).

Also, won't his teammates get the benefit as well? If it in any way deters attack from the team maybe it was worth it. Or maybe it was for GPPs.

Possibly. There was no stone on that map, though... and there were probably better things for him to be building. Ah well.

If Chichen Itza deters an attack temporarily, it might be worth it. However, I'm not sure many veteran folks would be particularly deterred by it. If you're bringing along a decent amount of siege units (which you should be anyway), the +25% defense doesn't make too much difference. And even if it does, the bonus obsoletes pretty quickly.

Anyway, with this particular game's setup, I'm not sure they'd need to worry about an attack at this point anyway - with or without the wonder. Not that I've been keeping up with things much recently, so it's possible I'm way off. lol

AFAIK, his teammates will benefit, but it's still a crap wonder. Better to spend those hammers on expansion/wealth/war toys IMO.

smile Think you're way on here. smile

Easy defence from Slavery/LBs makes an offensive war hideously expensive even without Takeout Pizza.

(Pillaging/Choking wars may be a different story, but Takeout Pizza doesn't help with that sort of Anchovy)

(edit)
Hrm.

Missed the fact that they don't start with Feudalism on a Med start.

Still, easy whipped defenders makes for some tough aggression without a tech edge. Which an Anchovy Pizza ain't gonna help with. For either side.

lol Sullla does not understand that team is gold gifting. Does not matter though because team 1 would not change there plan with the new information.

Krill won that game because he did not have to build much units for over half the game while other teams did. If he did not win instantly then buildings in Civ4 would be insultingly weak. nono

A straight gold transfer doesn't show up on GNP calcs. But a gpt one does. Sullla would never hamstring himself by giving gold 10t at a time, so he has no idea why anyone else would. lol

And, yeah, Krill won PBEM4 Vets by figuring out the metagame better than me. I had the better start, but then I got lost in the meta side of things.

Isn't Team 3 going for a cultural victory? Doesn't that explain the wonders, even the weirder ones?

Random Wonders don't give that much culture. Even without the other teams it would be better to build other stuff

Edit: "Locke's" post is great. That was very clever of sullla. It was not as good for clear reasons but it is still good.
