Ideally, one of the more active Admins (ie. Sulla or T-Hawk) take this up with KoP. If neither want to get involved, I suppose one of us could simply PM KoP.

KoP has already been reaching out behind the scenes. Have patience, folks.

So I wasn't the only one having issues with changing my avatar...And the site going offline for half-days...

Between the server being overwhelmed and the site completely going offline, is there anything we can do about the hosting situation? I'm new here and of no account but I really like the RB community and enjoy spamming in the forums, which would be even more fun without the technical problems. I understand the hosting is provided generously at no charge to the community, but sometimes you get what you pay for and services are unavailable until the generous host finds time to fix things. I'm sure our host has other important things to do that impose time constraints regarding tending to the RB flock, so to create more time to solve the technical problems perhaps it would be wise to get more help solving whatever problems we face. If getting more help costs money I don't think it would be impossible to raise it from those rabid visitors among us who post about how nice it would be if the server was available....

Sorry, that turned into a rant . More to the point, for whoever is working on the tech issues, what help or resources do you need, and how can the community help? There are people here more savvy than I am, I am but a lowly mostly Windows domain network administrator, but at my business I keep the servers and network up because that is what they pay me to do. If my website went offline two or three days over the holiday they'd probably let me go and let someone else handle it. Just saying. It's not a true analogy but we could be losing out on new members at RB because maybe new people don't want to deal with a site that sometimes runs fine and sometimes sends their http requests to the bin.

To the site admin: What can we do to help?
