C'mon, that's a lame way to go over to the dark side. Still breaking NAP, but I guess justifying it to yourself somehow? Disappointing Sith.

I see I have the save, but I'm not off for lunch for another hour or so. Which way did you decide?
Mackoti: Turn 162
Commodore: Right, so it's breaking NAP then.
Fair enough, like I said, you're in most CTONs now, so it shouldn't hurt you.
That's a piss-poor way to break a NAP. Unless he's embracing the bastard and saying 162 but instead opting for, say, 159. Then he'd at least be a worthy scion of the dark side.

So, drafted a quick note to Gaspar and TT:
Quote:Hey gents,
Just an fyi, keeping you both updated, apparently my culture attempt has worried Mackoti enough for him to invent a pretext to break our NAP, which was originally until 165. He said right now he's planning on invading on turn 162. TT, I know you're more or less in final war mode anyway, so this might be informative only I guess. Gaspar, Mack obviously isn't worried too much about you chances, or else I suspect he'd be inventing a reason to stab you, as well. Good luck in changing his mind.

And then, because hey why not, I copied Mack on the message. :neenernee

That stinks.
So..... what are you doing about it? What are your plans for still trying to pull off the culture victory?
Because if there's one thing better than winning, it's getting crapped on AND THEN WINNING ANYWAYS!!!!!

That's heartening but probably not in the cards. First off though, Mackoti isn't going to be attacking next turn, so it is probable that 162 is the true attack date. I wonder if he's boating around behind things?
TT will kindly remove the offending city the turn after next, which will be nice at least. Those stupid borders aren't going to let him 1-turn it. At least with Satyr gone I think TT ought to be able to regain his gold...maybe. Cultural victories annoy neighbors.
Meanwhile, although it will be about a day late and $1 short, Gaspar is amassing an impressive army himself these days. I guess I should feel honored that the menace is so great that the tech powers of the world think I'm worth killing over their rival metal head. Gaspar might get himself a nice painful modern war yet.
Meanwhile, the SoD grows! One more from Naga in four turns (I think, might be off on my count), then hopefully one from Mermaid assuming the forces assembled against me don't do the crap -> goose impression through the lake. After that, it'll be a matter of time. 170 was probably a good initial guess.
At least it's going to be entertaining, eh?

Yeah, most victories do that! :neenernee
Please tell me that stack is kept somewhere safe like your capital? I'm sure it's not in gryphon, defended only by cavarly... right?

Oh, whew, they're not defended by cavalry, they're naked on that hill unguarded, actually....completely out of range of anything.

I still don't understand mackoti's pretext for attacking. Are there any other relevant logs than the one you posted above? It doesn't seem to give him the rights to that site or prevent you from settling it.

Oh, there isn't anything in any agreement anywhere. His main argument is "you angered me and this is my excuse". Nothing was said about the site, which is all kinds of lame.

Man, I'm too paranoid for that. I'd be worried about a burrowed Baneling or something.
Earlier you were wonering if Mack was "Booating around", did you mean the outer sea?

Yeah, the little outer sea might be his preferred route. It's actually one more reason for me accelerating Naga's artist pop, just in case he opts to go in that way.
