I find it isn't the obvious things that trip me up when swapping back and forth, it's the little things....like the Desert movenment penalty and defensive penalty in FFH that don't exist in BTS that tend to trip me up....NM the city planning that goes along the lines of "sure this city site sucks, but it'll be ok once I Spring it.......some turns later....oh bugger. wrong game. )

*note to self*: Be careful about signing on to a FFH game with LP when he isn't playing a PB BTS game.

(otoh, your PYFT factor is high, so that does tend to ameliorate the above....)

(otoh, your PYFT factor is high, so that does tend to ameliorate the above....) You needn't worry, I'm pretty crap at FFH regardless of when I'm playing it. Or at least, far more so than with BTS.

Getting back to the game...
Well, no further seafood to the south - as if that's a surprise at this point. Just look at that delicious, juicy land.
Our Scout (Sonic Boom) will start heading out into the unknown south and east next turn.
Meanwhile, Animal Husbandry is due in 2 turns, and our Worker has just finished the Rice farm at our capital.

Yeah, I thought you ded-lurked him for the whole game....
Quote:My main weakness with FFH is a lack of familiarity with what works and what doesn't in multiplayer. In BTS I've got years of experience to work off, and it's also a much simpler design. In FFH there are so many units and spells and religions and variations that it's hard to keep track of what's best for any given civ in any given situation.
That's what I love about FFH...so many shiney toys to play with....and every civ/leader combo plays differently.
Quote:But yes, I'd be aware of the basics of unit combat, and I'd know enough to be extremely cautious about collateral damage coming from unexpected directions.
:hat: Also beware of Elfs.

We're definitely connected to a larger continent. (Gah, and now the food starts appearing again, just to tease us.)
We met HitAnyKey this turn - who judging by the public player thread, has almost certainly also met Plako and Spacetyrantxenu (based on the level of banter between them). Assuming the reports are reliable, we even know where Plako is in relation to HAK:
spacetyrantxenu Wrote:Plako, you may be interested to know that HAK's capital is 13 tiles due west of your own city center.
Plus, xenu reported having met Mackoti earlier:
spacetyrantxenu Wrote:Greetings, Mackseven! It appears your scout has found its way into Mao's casino. Feel free to enjoy our games and prizes! Do you need instruction in the art of throwing dice?
If you spend (lose) enough in our casinos we will of course comp your stay, and drinks are always free. Given that xenu initiated the contact in the public thread, I'm inclined to believe it's genuine. If you recall, Mackseven faked a meeting with us much earlier in the game... turns out they may actually be not so far away from us after all.
So it seems we're connected to at minimum 4 other civs to our south/east... which confirms that the land doesn't end anytime soon. That's not at all good news for our already awful start, since we'll now have to worry about belligerents from multiple directions. Gah.
Could we possibly be given any more of a death sentence in this game? Wait, I'd better not jinx the strategic resources too...
