Turn 59

The turns are rocketing around currently, and we are actually first in two demographics.

Our people approve of our high GNP
[Image: Civ4ScreenShot0169.JPG]

We gave birth to a great prophet, he was settled in Headache because we didn't have anything else to do with him currently and didnt wan't to wait for a GA. He's quite tasty at two hammers, five gold and three beakers.

Our capital completes a barracks in two turns, then will move onto settler duty interspersed with military builds. I think I'd rather have a unit but at least it raises our power. Additionally you can see our shiny new trade routes with spacetyrantxenu.

Other cities are also completing infra, including a library whipped this turn in Dirty Dishes, unfortunately I dont have any pictures of these locations, sorry about that.

In foreign relations, Dazed's warrior is currently scouting our land, our scout is in Xenu's, and we are currently trying to convince Sian to settle our next city and gift it to us, rather than gifting us a settler in order to avoid open borders.

Let me know if I've forgotten anything, because I probably have smile

Yikes, dazed and xenu have atrocious GNPs. We're well set to expand rapidly now, I don't think we're behind at all. Does chopping add its full value to the MFG rating for that turn?

Neither chops nor whips appear on the mfg screen.

DD: Started Galley. Will finish in 3 turns along with growth. I think whipping the library was a bad move, we don't have food to work scientists here. And now we barely have food to work the engineer (keeping him, though).

JH: Switched from Galley to Library. We have few good tiles here but decent food, we need specialist slots badly.

I've revised signs a whole bunch. I suggest going straight NE and claiming the strategically most important land first (sealing Sian off). I've also made a deal with Sian that he founds our new city for us 1N of silver.
Central overview - workers
[Image: t60centre.jpg]
A: 3t to finish mine, will move SW afterwards
B: Mine finished, farm N of it afterwards
C: Changed orders to road the mine (was set to move to the eastern road and continue roading)
D: Moved the NW worker here since we get Mathematics in two turns. Should load the worker and the settler it will chop out on to the galley and settle gold island. Will bring the warrior up there first to settle less blindly this time.
E: Building a mine, will carry on roading afterwards.

I suggest not settling more cities in the centre for now. They have inferior short-term value and can easily be backfilled.
Tundra plans
[Image: t60tundra.jpg]
F: Building a road to speed up Sian's settler. We might road the furs afterwards to speed it up further.
G: Currently helping to chop out the Forge (need the engineer fast). We can chop the forest S of it as well in time for Sian gifting us the city t66 and finishing the chop t67.

I think the new city location is significantly better than the old one:
1) We save a forest
2) We get a chance to wrest game and furs from Sian
3) Allows xenu to found a decent fishing city (lake + game, can borrow fish + plains fur) on the eastern peninsula. If xenu doesn't want it, we will grab it later.

Jungle dotmap

Grey
Gold island settlement. Might want to move it, but this looks decent. As mentioned earlier, we should send our warrior up there to explore the island before settling. Priority: Medium to high, dependant on finding more resources up there. If it's only the gold, we might want to delay a little.

Green or yellow
If we were to go for the green site, our dotmap will be more cramped. We could then move the yellow site E or NE. Priority: Low to medium. Good long-term sites, but nothing amazing short-term.

Pink
Also not that amazing short-term, but it does have 2x FP in the first circle for proper early growth. Priority: High, can help reinforce red dot.

Blue
Can be a decent fishing city eventually, running 2 scientists. Priority: Low, easy to backfil.

Orange
Tasty indeed! Mirrors red dot, except this one borders xenu. If xenu won't object we should grab it like a 3-year old grabs candy, but I imagine he'd be less than pleased. Priority: Depends on xenu.

Red
This is what we really want! I still think we should beeline this, especially since we have 15t left on our NAP with Sian. That will give us time to send reinforcements with it, sending the settler ahead before the road is completed and sending troops on the road. xenu might be willing to sell us troops to be delivered from the NW, they'd arrive on time. Especially if we're willing to let him have the tasty orange site. Priority: Off the scale.

Black
This one is icing on the cake. I would want to grab this one well ahead of it being profitable for strategic reasons, even if it's mired in jungle. If we really want to tick Sian off we could try to grab his gems further east, on the unlikely assumption that Sian neglects this area. Knowing Sian's planning skills, he is probably getting ready already.

More later (with pictures), have to run!

Don't keep the engineer, let the city grow back at full pace. Then hire the specs afterwards.

You're probably right about the engineer. I'm a bit paranoid about losing engineer points. Updated the above post with more suggestions, all subject to discussion. I suggest that we grab the red dot first, along with the gold island and the tundra city. Provided that xenu is willing to help us reinforce it.

Turn 63-

Crazy plans are afoot in the Slowwalk empire; having refused to learn our lesson about settling aggressively (see 'The Flower Shortage Debacle). We are planning on rampaging forward and settling Catwalks ambitious red dot as our next but one city.

The reasoning behind this is; we currently have an NAP with Sian until turn 75 which gives us time to build and defend the city (probably), the city will be very profitable quickly and we plan on going calender after currency anyway. In order to get full benefit from the city we are going to have to found it (and get some culture in) before Mr 'Stonehenge+Threereligions' gets his greasy landgrabbing claws on the area.

Note we are doing this despite being the lowest on power, although by next turn we will have two. Count them. TWO! Axemen. There is supposed to be a deal in place to buy some troops from spacetyrantxenu. I was a bit iffy on this, particularly because Dazed was reluctant to deal with us due to his (correct) perception that Xenu and us are working quite closely together. However, Catwalk pointed out that firstly it would save us having to build some troops and secondly, apparently we said we'd help fund Xenu to currency. If doing it this way means we get something for our gold (besides boundless friendship with a vicious dictator) then that's cool with me.

Here are the rest of our cities:

Headache is on settler production currently, one has just completed we'll probably build a couple more before we grow on some military.

Dirty Dishes is currently growing while building a galley, it'll max out and then i think it should build workers. We really need more of the loveable and stylishly named (W1, W2, W3.. Wn) buggers.

Jaw Hurting has been nominated as military pump (after much arguing :neenernee), once the plains hill gets mined we'll be able to pump out 2 turn units (of any type currently buildable). She also has the glory of being my current favourite city (entirely because I won the argument :neenernee).

Oh her period declined to take a photograph at this time of the month, but she completed a forge last turn and is now grumpily building a library.

Other News-
We are having to rely on polluted great person pools in order to get a great engineer in time for MoM, because unfortunately OHP can't overtake Headache while headache is running specs for research.

Sian is currently kicking ass, he's the first to 7 cities with Stonehenge the Great Lighthouse and now three religions (buddjewchrist) after bulbing theology two turns ago He has done this with no use of slavery so far, he converted to it and OR two turns ago and also adopted buddhism last turn.

Demographics are looking pretty much the same, we are number one in population now though smile

In case you didn't notice by the signs, I'm willing to compromise on red dot and delay it a little. If you want, we can use the next settler from HA to go there instead. One of the reasons I'm willing to delay it is that it will take a while to get it going, with no good tiles in the inner ring. The closer expansion has much more going for it short-term, being on a plains hill with FP in the inner ring. Nice update thumbsup

Thank you smile.
Yeah I noticed, settler is on the PH ready to found next turn.
Is the gold for troops deal sorted with Xenu? If so what are the details?

I haven't been on at all today, just got on now. Will try to talk to him about it.
