RBP7 [SPOILERS] - The Chronicles of Nyania

Sounds like a plan then! tongue

Not much new this turn. Googly has switched some of their tiles and got an extra commerce or two somewhere, as their research time went down by 2 turns in the space of 1 turn. That's about it.

Only a couple more moves and then we'll found the new city and start mining the Gold on T44.

Not much happening this turn, so figured I'd post an update of the territory we've discovered to date.

Here's the land to the east of our capital. Spacetyrantxenu's capital is at 4 population, by the way - we can see it in the Top 5 cities.

Here's the land to the north of Twinkletoes. Definitely seems there's no connection to the west other than the small land bridge to Antisocialmunky. Could be handy for us if we ever manage to take him over, since it'll be slightly easier to defend. Of course, it'll mean more barbs from the icy north heading solely for us.

The Silver is actually in a pretty difficult location to access - requiring a Worker or Settler on a Galley. Still, the rest of their land is pretty insane.

Check it out, there are actually 5 different happiness resources in their sphere of influence - at least 3 Gold, 6 Fur, 1 Silver, 2 Wine, and 1 Silk. How many do we have in our sphere of influence? Just one single Gold resource. That's over a dozen happiness resources they have scattered near them while we have just one near us. rolleye

Demographics... we're not exactly doing so well, especially considering that the #18 player on the scoreboard lost his capital and is about to be eliminated. In fact, we're ranked in the bottom half of civs in everything that matters. lol Oh well, that's just what happens when you get a start like this.

At least we should be improving slightly in the GNP department in a few turns after we found our new city and the single Gold resource in our sphere of influence comes online. Then again, others will probably improve in that time too, so perhaps our ranking won't change that much. tongue

Finished our first mine on the only available hill at the capital.

New (third) Worker built, and moved to start chopping a forest. Started on a Barracks while we grow towards size 5.

Our second city is due to be founded next turn. Finally a step forward for our slow-growing little empire. smile

Azza was eliminated this turn. That means, for now, we've claimed the bottom spot on the scoreboard. Go us! lol

With the land of two civs available to them this early on, I'm sure the Germans will grow to be a scarily powerful opponent in the future. Will have to watch out for those guys.

I'm more worried with our immediate neighbour, Googly, at the moment tbh. Those are the guys we need to do something about.

Indeed. Fortunately it seems not only are they playing relatively poorly (at least judging from their choice of technologies), but also they're already being choked by Antisocialmunky and Elkad. wink

See this recent post from the public thread, if you didn't already:

Can you play chase the worker?
Definitely seems like a choking operation is underway, which can only really benefit us if it's the case.

Overall I'm becoming more and more confident that Googly will not be too much of a problem to eliminate. I think the longer term issue is going to be how we deal with ASM once Googly is gone, given that in the past he's been prone to antagonism - especially against me. tongue

Still, let's not get ahead of ourselves... dealing with Googly is still the primary plan at the moment. Ideally ASM and Elkad's choking will prevent or delay them from hooking up their Copper, which can only serve to make a rush easier. And even if ASM rushes them before us (which is a possibility), we can always rush him back while his units are still recovering. wink

Looking more closely at that screenshot above... is that Worker really mining a forest-hill rather than chop-mining it? It seems to be so!

Also, if you compare with this screenshot of the land we know, the tile being mined appears to be the one 1S of the sign saying "Capital 2N".

And given the position of the borders and the absent forest on the plains-hill, which was there earlier...

...I'm guessing the second city is located at the spot 2S of the "Capital 2N" sign and was founded in the last 5 or so turns.

Which raises an even larger question: TT got Bronze Working on T26. He must have been aware of the position of that Copper for at least 15 turns now. So why in the HECK is that Worker MINING (not chopping) some irrelevant hill, when mousing over the Copper in-game reveals that he hasn't hooked it up yet? (In fact, mousing over the Corn and Pigs reveals that none of the resources around that city have been hooked up.)

Seriously... he's being choked, and 7-turn mining a forest-hill is more important than 3-turn chopping it... let alone hooking up Copper ASAP? Mind boggling. Not to mention he still hasn't deviated from his baffling religious/cultural tech path.

I almost can't believe what I'm seeing. If I've analysed this correctly, maybe we already have a winner of the Adlain award? yikes (No offence Twinkletoes, but you really should not be making fundamental mistakes across the board like this.)

By the way, checking Civstats - TT founded that city on turn 36. So its borders must have expanded to the Copper on turn 41. ASM's screenshot comes from on or after that turn... so what's that Worker doing mining a freaking hill-forest instead? duh

Oh well... great news for us. Every mistake he makes brings us closer to conquering that delicious land of his, and putting it to some actual good use. wink

Maybe he's used to quick speed, where straight up mining a tile is more efficient tongue

Though there's obviously a whole bunch of trade-offs between speed and efficiency and all that jazz.
