[SPOILERS] Four Score & Seven Dynasties Ago: Pindicator plays Lincoln of China

Turn 047

Apologies for the lack of updates this weekend. I thought I'd catch everything up here, but I think may have deleted my screenshots by mistake. So here's the current situation:

I circled the warrior because after promoting him to W1, I decided to back him off to the plains forest hill. Should have kept the promo, but if he survives the eventual bear attack we're going to give him W2 and go scouting.

The latest worker out of Piranha Plant and another worker put a couple chops into our next settler. Now they're heading back to Piranha in time to pasture the sheep the first turn they're able to do so. (And neatly enough, AH finishes the turn borders will pop in Piranha, so yay for more micro "cuteness".) Piranha is working an unimproved tile this turn, yes, and I may even take back the corn after the settler is done, depending on what my plan for Goomba is after its settler finishes. (It's either straight into another settler, or build an axe while growing to 5 and then whipping the next settler with the whip overflow going into a granary.) The plan for Piranha right now is to get to size 4 right as its Granary can be whipped. So we need to get Pottery next.

Meanwhile, the two northern workers just finished a riverside farm. Those two characters are going to road to our next city spot, and the axe in Goomba is going to escort them / make sure the city spot doesn't get taken over by wild animals.

In the scouting department, our northern scout did survive his lion encounter but was greivously wounded. Rather than healing -- and why make him a medic if I don't heal him? -- I decided to press on since I understood from sunrise that I was close to meeting Mali. Well, he moved right next to another lion. Game over scout. In the south, we've learned our lesson: after encountering a lion our scout was brought down to 0.0/1 health, but he's healing away.

Internationally, scooter looks like he has the best land / early game play, as he has 9 technologies and 7 population divided amongst 3 cities... I think I'm going to stop with the C&D though. It's just going to get more and more difficult and it isn't worth the hassle, especially for a fun game like this. I do have graphs on everybody I've met, so I can at least get a relative idea for what they can do.

It seems we have conflicting themes! I havent read your thread until now, and I like my theme too much to change it now.

Are you sticking with the Mario Bros. universe? If so, we should diverge real soon. :-)

My theme's been mario universe enemies. It isn't too thought out, I'm just listing enemies as I think them up.
But don't let that stop you from using it. Something this often [SIZE="1"](edit: awesome? wtf kind of typo is this???)[/SIZE] can't lie fallow forever wink

Turn 049

We finished our road and moved axe + settler onto the nearby plains hill. Next turn we'll settle our 3rd city and start pasturing the cows while the new city starts on our 5th worker. Down south, the two workers started pasturing the sheep; after chopping a couple trees into said settler they made their way back to Piranha Plant and arrived just in time for the borders to pop. When it comes to worker micro, I'm definitely in the camp of getting the important tiles improved quickly as opposed to having the most efficient worker micro. Obviously you want both, but if I have to pick one I'll take inefficient worker movements.

We also have horses revealed! I'll likely settle on the forest by the rice for my 4th city (I was teasing with the idea of 1N of the 'X' on the map) because of where the horse came up. And to my north the horse helps resolve the big mess of what to do with all that food-less land; I'll probably settle on that northern desert hill to get a good defensive city on my border with [strike]scooter[/strike] sunrise wink

Food demos are good -- I'm in the top 5 -- and next turn they'll only get better.

Turn 050

City #3 is up and running. As you can see, I was very creative in the enemy I picked to name it after. At least you can't see the names of people's cities unless you scout them first.

It's making a worker to start, and the workers that roaded to it are busy pasturing the nearby cows. After the pasture finishes 1 worker will road to our 4th city site while the other chops the worker in Hammer Bros to completion. After 4 cities we will probably slow down a little to build more defenders. Depends on what my neighbors graphs are doing at the time.

Meanwhile, the sheep are now pastured, so pastured sheep + new city = #1 in crop yield! Me likey nod
