[SPOILERS] Novice and SevenSpirits play Suleiman of Korea

Oh and it looks like our chariot's found itself in the middle of NoGap's expansion:

Our map knowledge is becoming quite decent.

I'll always remember that one time I vetoed one of SevenSpirits' worker actions. wink

And now I can also refer to this:

SevenSpirits Wrote:Let's get Currency before Calendar. With 10 cities * $2 I think the extra trade routes are too strong to delay, and I think we're teching fast enough to not lose Mausoleum because of this. And if we do at least nothing was invested in it and we can go get the Great Library.

*Of course I agreed and even turnplayed the currency research, ignoring C&D while doing so. smile

Which time was that?

I'm definitely blaming the fact that you played the turns without me. wink

In pbem23, turn 71. smile

Novice and I schemed a bit this turn. Which means we we discussed settling plans.

We are building three settlers. Coincidentally they will all finish on the same turn - Attach Mimes via a 3t slowbuild, and Cruel Guitar and Failed sum via finishing their current builds, then starting a settler and whipping it. Their paths thereafter are marked in blue, with t73's move labeled to show how it syncs up with our galley movements. Note that in the north we want to hop on the galley as it leaves, but in the south we want to board as soon as the galley arrives because the settler is getting off at the very next stop, so to speak.

The galleys are obviously the red arrows; they are currently sending missionaries to Jest Is Anarchy and Homely Pits (plus a worker to Jest).

Coincidentally, all three settlers will found their respective cities on t75. Attach Mimes' settler goes to marble, Cruel Guitar's goes to wheat/clam/spice, and Failed Sum's grabs the silver location towards Mackoti.

Also coincidentally, we have a worker down near Blameless Yin who's spending t70-73 finishing a plains river farm and a sheep road. So t74 he can hop on the galley towards wheat/clam, and t75 he can disembark within the city and immediately commence farming. And just as luckily, we have a worker on the forest hill next to Iced Mine who will finish his chop job t72 and be able to move into Iced Mine t73 and board the galley as it passes through. In either case, we may end up sending a military unit along with the settler instead, but I'm hoping this is not necessary and we can just start improving those cities as soon as they're founded.

You can also barely see our settling party for the silver towards NoGaspInHell, where we will found a city next turn (70). And finally, highlighted in gold, are four workers, doing a bit of roading and chopping near Great Inferior, in anticipation of its border pop in 3 turns. (It just whipped a library.) After that it's a FP cottage every turn. thumbsup

Next let's turn our attention to tech. We appear to be making about 75b/turn breakeven and have about 140g saved, which is basically 2t of tech. Though, this might drop a little bit with our whips next turn.

Aesthetics is a 3t tech. Polytheism is 1t. Literature is 2t. We could very likely get Aesthetics and Polytheism in the next two turns, and then Literature in the two after that so eot73. Marble isn't really due until t80; t75 if we settle directly on it...

Meanwhile Blameless Yin was supposed to pop a great person t80, with Attach Mimes close on its heels. If we build a single wonder in AM in the next ten turns let alone the great library, we're going to have to fire some specialists there or Blameless Yin will miss its GP.

So these all indicate wanting to delay the Aesthetics-Lit path a bit. But that's probably not safe. Mackoti has marble and should obviously be motivated to pop some great people for his Mausoleum and to bulb up to Philo/Lib/Taj. And he's got beakers to spare, and the Aesthetics path is the way to get great people for sure. So what to do? We weren't planning on such a high tech rate, neither for us nor for Mackoti.

Here's my opinion: The Great Library will be godly for us - let's get it ASAP. So four turns of tech followed by an engineer rush on t74.

Now about the next GP. One path is to just forget about the BY gpp for now and cash them in later. The absolute fastest we could do there is via a Library which we 2whip on t71 (which is kind of a waste - BY has lots of coast we're not working), and that gives a t77 great person. Meanwhile AM would pop a great person t77 unless we fire some of its current specialists. On the other hand maybe this is just the ticket. AM can get a few turns of growing in, and BY will henceforth be free of gpp duties until much later. What do you think?

That still leaves the question of settling marble - do we get it 5t earlier by settling on it? That mainly just speeds up the National Epic if we are rushing GL, and it means we aren't next to our seafood. So I think I'm against that.

Thoughts? I wasn't expecting to end up so far afield from our previous, vague plans, but I guess we've just been playing turn-to-turn recently.

You're welcome. Our opponents are certainly keeping us on our toes.

Like Seven told me in chat the other day - save's in, so I guess we need a new plan. lol

Here's a look at the polar area, where we've settled King Ban and are planning another silver city to seal off this front. All our cities are growing, and it's making Failed Sum unhappy, since it's lost Top 5 status after whipping a worker. One whip anger will wear off next turn though, and we're building a worker this turn so the unhappy citizen actually produces two hammers.

Also note that Gasplum founded an extremely Anti-Lewwyn city 3 tiles east of Not They. Works for us.

We were originally planning a settler build (for said silver city) in Failed Sum this turn, but I snuck in an extra worker first. By using a few more worker turns roading to the new site, we can settle the city on the same turn as originally planned, and the city will be a faster starter. King Ban might have to wait a bit longer on its deer camps, but it can work the silver and get some hammers into its granary while it's waiting.

Attach Mimes is using some of its stockpiled production to produce faster workers and settlers. Stockpiled production, you say? It's more commonly known as the food box.

By the way we'll rush The Great Library here on t74. It will be awesome.

Here's what our other cities are up to:

We're doing well and have decent long term potential too. It's worth nothing that our main benefit from Representation so far has been the extra happy cap, not the specialist bonus. Colossus + extra happy cap = good stuff.

If we're able to claim the second silver, maybe we can trade it to Noblar to make them hate us less for settling up on them. As in every other aspect of the game I expect we're in a race with Mackoti, though.
I have to run.
